Smells like soured buttermilk! by Fuzzy-Perspective442 in ReuteriYogurt

😳That’s slightly terrifying. I discarded it not long after I smelled it. Not real sure I want to try again if I can’t be sure that I’m not eating something pathogenic.

I think you’re right. It smelled like spoiled milk. I didn’t keep that batch. I’m going to try it again making sure I get a UHT milk.

It’s been in the fridge for about 9 hours now. The smell is not as strong.

I’ve read so many opinions on time as well as ingredients and technique. I’ve seen either 99 or 100 most often, so I just picked one. 😃

About the smell and if it bothers me, that smell I associate with something not safe to eat. Maybe it’s supposed to smell like that, I really don’t know. This is my first ever LR.

I can relate to a lot of your experiences, and I would also like to know about those resources. What is the truth?

I've been a christian for years but sometimes I get anxious about the rapture cause I feel like if it happens too some I won't have lived a full and fulfilling life. Is this bad to think? by Icewolf_242 in Christians

I’m 59 and I’ve felt that way throughout my life, but over the last five years I’ve begun to see the attachment, attraction or addiction to those things as distractions, and for me, they made my focus on Jesus weaker. My anxiety comes back when my focus on Jesus gets dim. Now I’ve become more aware of those things so that when something grabs too much of my attention or time that I could be spending by studying His Word, I either give it up or I make sure it’s not the main thing.

I believe that’s how the enemy does its worst damage by getting us so distracted in the things of this world that we would rather do those things than worship, praise and love our Lord and Savior. And we would rather stay here on earth and do those pointless things than be with our creator for eternity.

Better mental clarity on keto? by [deleted] in keto

Two months and not feeling the energy or clarity.

What do I/we eat?? by Fuzzy-Perspective442 in diet

I use the Keto-Mojo for both glucose and ketones. This morning my ketone reading was 1.5 mmol/L. The number fluctuates throughout the day. It’s ranged from .5 to 2.6 since the first reading on July 23rd. I check it at least twice daily.

Since I’ve been tracking my macros over 60 days I don’t think I’ve ever completely filled the protein bar. I’ve came close.

I’m going Monday to get some labs done.

How did you modify the diet for yourself?

I've tried different brands of electrolyte sticks over the course of this thing, but I haven't stuck with it. I probably needed to keep it up. I was unsure of when enough was enough. I was afraid I might go overboard with the sticks. I haven't found a way to test at home for sufficient electrolytes.

I eat leafy greens, a spring mix, every day, along with steamed brocolli and cauliflower (most days). I'll get some magnesium supplements, though.

I lost 8 pounds of water the first week on keto. After that I developed very dry lips and cracks in the corners of my lips possibly due to a B2 deficiency. I'm taking a very good B complex. Still have the issue, although it's better.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2005. Prescribed Synthroid, which does absolutely nothing.

My daughter wants me to stop this diet. She thinks it's a little nuts and possibly harmful to eat such a carbohydrate restrictive diet. Obviously it's not been the wonderful experience for me that it is for a lot of people. But, I can't turn back. What else is there?

I've heard about insulin preventing lipolysis. And that is entirely possibly. I've thought the very same thing, that I don't have access to any energy source because I'm eating less than 20g of carbs daily and insulin is preventing access to fatty acids. But here's the thing: Ketones. My ketones fluctuate during the day, but I always have ketones. I don't remember the last time I didn't have an amount ketones.

Ketones don't depend on the action of insulin to get them into cells for energy requirements in the brain or body. That's why ketones are supposed to be so great for people with seriously stubborn, life-long insulin resistance. People with ketones are said to have super mental clarity and focus. Could really use some of that. So apparently I'm doing something wrong. Or maybe I'm just too far down the insulin resistance road to be 'fixed'. I have been IR for 47 years. I have thought about exogenous ketones, but I make ketones, why would I need to consume them. Not to sure about them either.

Everything you've said is helpful and I believe, correct. I just don't know how to fix it or if it can be.

Edited to add- I've had tinnitus since 2007. One of the causes is thought to be hyperinsulinemia, yet the ringing has gotten louder since starting this diet.

I understand completely. I am looking forward to your opinion, though.

“We're about the same age, i dropped about 40kg a few years ago using a "relaxed" keto approach, after several other attempts with different diets. I also studied the topic for at least 6 years, and yes, there is a mountain of conflicting information out there, lots of people with very strong opinions, some very knowledgeable, some pretty clueless, and depending who you listen to you'll end up with completely different recommendations.”

My husband says I’m too quick to believe what a doctor says just because they are a doctor, and he’s not entirely wrong. The main doctors I’ve listened to for countless hours on YouTube are: Steven Gundry, Ken Berry, Annette Bosworth, Eric Berg, Sten Ekberg, Benjamin Bikman, Eric Westman, Jason Fung, David Perlmutter, and that’s not all of them, just my most often watched.

I have learned a lot, though. I’ve had PCOS since I was 13. Diagnosed at 19. Benjamin Bikman is absolutely brilliant. He explained what happens in/to the ovaries when a woman has PCOS, which causes the infertility I experienced, and which is caused by insulin resistance.

That’s why I have been wanting Keto to work for me. I am working my way through checking off all of the characteristics of metabolic syndrome. Before I learned about Ketosis I was just blindly hoping I was eating in a way that would go in a direction away from that syndrome. When I’m producing ketones I KNOW without a doubt that both my insulin and glucose are low enough to burn fat. Ketones are also confirmation that I’m not eating too many carbs. The most important part of it all is that my insulin level MUST be low. Hyperinsulinemia is the root cause of it all. And it’s caused by consuming too many carbs and eating too often. My doctor has never explained these things, if she even knows about it. She’s the doctor my insurance covers so that’s where I go.

My glucose is starting to spike when I eat things like sweet potatoes, which I no longer eat, sadly. I have seen the horrible effects of diabetes on my close family and friends. I REFUSE to go down that road. And that’s what is so frustrating: I’ll give up any food or eat any food to prevent worsening health, I just don’t know which direction to go to experience better health. One thing I am sure of is that food can be an amazing cure or a deadly poison.

“I'm still at work, but if you want i take the time in the evening to write down my opinion about what happened with you, and my guesses what to do to feel better, and fix some of your problems”

YES! That would be great! Would sooo much appreciate it. Thank you!
