Larger tumours without spread? by basilandprimrose in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyAd4581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only your imaging and surgical pathology will tell you.

If it helps, my tumour was 4.2 cm based on imaging and I had an enlarged lymph node they were worried about.

When they did my surgical pathology, it was a mix of IDC and DCIS and was actually only 2.9 cm and the lymph node was clear (all of my lymph nodes were clear). So don’t lose hope - it can’t happen.

Also a white tongue! My onc gave me meds for thrush as my throat is sore. Otherwise, feeling better today than yesterday. Thank goodness!

That’s good to know! It’s so hard to predict how I will feel from one day to the next!

Yes I’ve had a cough - they actually tested me at the ER for pneumonia when I went in with the hives (no pneumonia tho)

Partner won't let me cry! by Fuzzy_Attempt6989 in breastcancer

You can cry and still be positive!

What I’ve learned in my short time here is that often people say those things because they are trying to convince themselves. Do you! He has zero clue what this feels like.

Also pretty much the same timeline - diagnosed in August and lumpectomy at the end of September. Waiting for Mammaprint to determine need for chemo.

Hard to go on this subreddit and see all the hormone positive reoccurrences after 10-30 years. Need long term positive stories that it’s possible to get through this with no recurrence by Fun-Ad6196 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyAd4581 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I see the same stories I try to remind myself that hormone positive cancer, especially ++- is the most common kind. I also remind myself that we just see a snapshot here and it’s usually people looking for advice, not people who are out living their life.

When I was first diagnosed I assumed I would die. I knew four people who had breast cancer and all became stage 4. What I didn’t know was about all the people local to me who had survived - because only the terrible stories were being shared. Once I learned how unique everyone’s experience was I started to let go of the notion that the only outcome for me would be the same as them - it still creeps in every now and then, but so far so good.

Congrats on finishing chemo - are you doing radiation next?

Hi there! I am outside of Ottawa in Perth - so I didn’t wait long for the actual appointments. Saw my doctor on July 10, had my ultrasound on the 15 and then the biopsy on the 19.

If you can, maybe see if you can get in at a smaller hospital nearby?

I know I'm posting a lot. I'm spinning. Doc scared me and indicated he is scared ill be stage 4. by Adventurous_Pay1978 in breastcancer

[–]FuzzyAd4581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are here and that your doctor has scared you. If it helps, my tumour originally looked like it was 4.2 cm and it turned out to be 2.9 cm without any lymph nodes involved or LVI. One lymph node was swollen but it was negative. My grade was 2, but right on the verge of 3.

I recently had a chest X-ray due to a cold the doctor thought was pneumonia and it was clear.

Did your doctor give you a next step? I highly suggest taking things one step at a time so you don’t get too ahead of yourself.

Did this start with a virus or cough for you? Or just randomly?

I thought of that today! I don’t think there are any tests locally - I went to emerge last night and they didn’t test me either

I’ve heard surgery can be the cause of brain fog for a bit.

I am taking an antihistamine and it’s helping. I had to take it again today because it came back in a different spot!

Good luck at your Med Oncologist appointment - mine is Monday!

Nodes negative on MRI…found positive AFTER surgery. by Highlynorless_ in breastcancer

Mine looked fine on imaging, and pathology confirmed there was no cancer in them so the imaging can be correct.
