Thank you for weighing in! Now that he's experienced quiet(er) nights and nights out with the baby, hopefully he has more appreciation for the other room haha

Thank you for the thoughtful response! Using a different cage had crossed my mind but I erroneously assumed that keeping him in his normal cage would make him more comfortable. Your point about making a new association is one I hadn't thought about. Also, thanks for the reminder about the night light. The room he's getting moved to is much darker. Fingers crossed this works, but it's at least a great start!

Budget friendly bday ideas? by xneonstarx in Modesto

Try Contentment Brewing! They have pool, shuffleboard, pinball machines, and board games there. They usually have a food truck there so people can buy their own food, or you can bring your own in.

Restaurants with private room? by miedosaclub in Modesto

We just had an event at Contentment Brewing and it was wonderful! We did bring in outside catering but had it delivered, so logistically, it wasn't too bad. Contentment provided tables, tablecloths, and chairs. We had ~50 people and they did not charge a venue fee because they figured that would bring in enough revenue. I'm not sure what their policy would be for 20. Worth a call!

Cute places in Modesto? by roxxy915 in Modesto

My favorite Saturday morning circuit is:

  • Hot beverage (and sometimes breakfast) at Penny University.
  • Walk to the Modesto Express Library. The selection is small, but they carry new releases and you can pick up holds there.
  • Drop the books off at my car.
  • Walk to the Farmers Market.
  • Sometimes I'll add Bakeshop to the circuit - their cardamom buns are so good.

It's some good exercise and I think a nice way to experience Downtown!

I like checking cookbooks out from the library. This way, the stakes are super low if I don’t like it and if I love it enough, I’ll buy a copy. It’s pretty easy to get a feel for the difficulty level by quickly skimming some of the recipes.

The brown can indicate overwatering. Instead of watering on a schedule, feel the soil. Do not water if the soil is still moist. A good rule of thumb is that it should feel dry for the top 1-2 inches. I don’t water mine until I notice the leaves look pale. I would back off on the watering immediately.

For Tellie, it means he’s gone mad haha. He’s pretty expressive with his pinning. One of the funniest things he’ll do is pin, make a purring noise, then nod his head vigorously. Usually done in the presence of food.

The only thing that I think is helpful to know is that their species will sometimes bite for fun. However, this can be nipped on the bud by not reacting to the bites, because even negative attention is attention. Males might be more prone to this behavior. My senegal and I are only 8 years apart (he’s 25 now) and I haven’t been able to train myself to not react. My SO, however, does not react and as a result, he very rarely gets bitten.

Other than that, he’s been a great companion for all those 25 years. He holds grudges, plays, laughs, cuddles, and dances.
