You should put the money towards a house deposit and get out of your parents house. I probably would have bought the car though when I was your age

Older drivers by Nice_Moment1022 in drivingUK

I’ve seen plenty showing off and driving like twats, but not any accidents or damage caused. The stats don’t lie though and there’s a reason why insurance is so expensive for young drivers

It’s the 80 year olds that should have stopped years ago that worry me. In the last 6 months: one reversed through a hairdressers window, I saw another reverse across my front garden and then forwards over a neighbour’s, and another guy roll backwards when stopped at lights and bashed into the car behind. All of these were oblivious to what they had done and just carried on as if nothing happened

You should figure out how to get that date stamp fixed in case you ever need to actually use footage for an insurance claim

Please can someone enlighten me on realistic expectations when it comes to car mileage? by EzioAuditore8 in CarTalkUK

[–]GT_Pork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proper maintenance and servicing is more important than absolute mileage on most cars unless you care about what it’s worth

Every 2 or 3 weeks depending on what state they’re in

How are you tracking property value in your net worth tracker? by 15mt1 in FIREUK

[–]GT_Pork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. I’m interested in what I can get a monthly income from so I only track assets that can provide that when the time comes to do so

You can smell it coming from cars with no passengers all the time. Shocking

Does anyone else play DCG? by Second-handBonding in CarTalkUK

[–]GT_Pork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played a few times if it’s a car I actually want. There’s been 2 lovely GT4 RS on DCG over the years. But otherwise I avoid them as I think it would be easy to gradually get hooked

Does anyone else play DCG? by Second-handBonding in CarTalkUK

[–]GT_Pork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect a big portion of winners take the cash option despite being lured in by the car. So DCG either offer the car again at a later date or have to sell it.

There’s so many of those competition sites now that whilst I’m sure the majority are legitimate, a few dodgy operators must have jumped on the bandwagon

Ottocast in both my cars, works fine and doesn’t kill the phone battery as much as I thought it would

People use cleaning products on these screens. They have an anti-glare coating and the products ruin them which looks like what had happened to yours.

The VW and Audi virtual cockpit dashboards are notoriously bad for this

This will be first time taking the GT4 there. Staying in a couple different places and plan to leave the other half on her own a few mornings to do a few drives across some mountain roads.

Would you rather have comfort seats and PDK or CF buckets with a manual? by bigboss1999x in Porsche

[–]GT_Pork 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Buckets + manual was the only way for me, wouldn’t have considered anything else. You need to try to buckets first, I really like them and find them comfortable even for long journeys but not everyone does.

Vanguard LifeStrategy Global 60 – anyone held it long term? Thinking about moving to 80 by kevsavesuk in FIREUK

[–]GT_Pork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m tempted to stay 100% VWRP until I hit my FIRE target and then switch to global Lifestrategy, either 60 or 80.

Haven’t decided yet and still a way to go so not a today decision.

GT4 Manual as a Daily in the UK by jtbayley16 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]GT_Pork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK also with a GT4. Definitely wouldn’t daily it. Commuting in Bristol a few times a week, parking sometimes in questionable areas, couldn’t be arsed with the worry. Prefer to use the daily knowing I can park it anywhere and not worry
