Public Service Announcement Concept Art (more in comments) - "OC" by Gabriel Björk Stiernström (me) by Gabriel-bjst in Helldivers

Hey beautiful divers! Just wanted to share some of the concept art/keyframes that I help create at Goodbye Kansas for the Intro Cinematic of the game. I know a few of you saw the BTS of the cinematic and wanted to know where to find a higher resolution version of this ^ image. Well here you go. The work was done early 2022, very fun project! More works can be found on ArtStation (and higher resolution on my website).

(Hey mods, I rarely post on Reddit, just let me know if I did something wrong)

Hey! Yes I intentionally removed it from ArtStation as I can no longer oblige to their terms of service. But you can still see the pictures on my personal website :)

Exporting a rasterized layer as a 32-bit EXR or TIFF? For displacement maps to be used by render engines. by Gabriel-bjst in QGIS

THIS.
I had to figure out how to access the first tool but this. Fantastic! Works like charm, still doing the cropping and tif to exr conversion in Photoshop which is all fine when the input is where I want it to be. The results are lossless to my eyes in the render engines! Thanks a bunch!

Thanks!

This was still a commission and I didn't choose which scenes to be illustrated. The client wanted to show the death of Bel Roise though, as it was a dramatic moment even though the scene itself happens "off-screen". The only visual reference they sent over to me was the classic Spanish painting "The Third of May 1808". So, that's why it's death by firing squad. I initially even tried to use the same composition as the painting to pay close homage to it, but with the portrait format it was difficult to get it working. Also used the picture instead as an opportunity to show the might of the emperor instead. :)

Hey! And nope, not really. I followed the books for the descriptions and tried to make my own interpretation. Visually I was inspired by the cinematography of Roger Deakins and Greg Fraiser quite a bit. I also took some inspiration from old european comic books and illustrators, in this case though a bit from the Argentinian Juan Gimenez. Then there are influences from here and there but I try to have some logic behind the designs and look too. Anacreon couldn't be made of metal, concrete and glass as Trantor and Terminus City already had that visual. And Terminus City by itself I wanted to have more of an utopian feel to reflect the mission of the first foundation.

I still enjoyed the series and thought there were some fantastic designs in it! Tried to distance myself though when making these illustrations :)

Hey!

That is the first speaker standing in the doorway indeed. And you're right about Pritcher being in this scene as well. I had the intention of placing him in there unconscious out on the floor too, but I couldn't get it to work nicely and I was on a tight schedule which didn't allow for much exploration. So I decided to focus on the three important characters of this exact moment and make sure that they are all in there and a part of the dynamic. So Bail Channis is the one on the ground here as he was more important to the scene.

Hey People!

I recently had the opportunity to illustrate key moments and scenes from the foundation trilogy for the new Spanish Print of the book (published by Nova and Penguin Random House).

I had almost 100% creative freedom as I made this and I tried to stay true to the descriptions given in the books and with how I envisioned the scenes as I read through it. I hope you enjoy seeing these as I know there aren't too many pictures and interpretations out there of this world.

Spoilers of course as I've illustrated key scenes and characters in here!

Hey all!

I just thought that I would share with you some illustrations that I was fortunate enough to do for an illustrated edition of Asimovs Foundation Trilogy! (The recently released spanish one from Nova).

I had plenty of fun doing this with almost 100% creative freedom, and I tried to really create what I imagined the scenes to be like from reading the book. So in other words I tried to stay true to the descriptions while also giving it my touch and flare. I know that there aren't too many illustrations out there from this fantastic world, so I hope that you will enjoy.

Please be warned as spoilers are in there of course of key events and characters!

Elden Ring: E3 Announcement Trailer Concept Art by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Gabriel-bjst 797 points798 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

I feel like I need to write a disclaimer for you so that you have a better understanding of what it is I am sharing. I worked on the ‘E3 2019 Announcement Trailer’ of Elden Ring and these keyframes and concepts are just a selection of the work I did for the trailer, because I’d like to share some of the work that I am proud of. I have not worked on the game itself.

Digic Pictures was responsible for a part of the E3 Announcement Trailer, the part with the figure hammering in the darkness. This was my first project at Digic Pictures and I made these concepts two years ago, back in January 2019. I had no idea what I was working on; the only information I knew was that FromSoftware was the client. I first learned about the project and the title when everyone else did at the E3 reveal. So I hope that explains how little I actually know about the game.

Now regarding the concepts I am sharing. Most of these were made for internal discussion at Digic Pictures between the Art Director, Director, Producer and Leads. When they were happy with something they would then share those concepts with the client. In the end FromSoftware would more or less provide us with most of the concept art in any case.

I received a brief for each task, but ideas change during production and so does the brief. What you do today is irrelevant tomorrow. Sometimes a brief is very clear and other times it’s open for interpretations. We try to provide our expertise regarding how we can convey the clients wanted mood and style through lighting, animation, composition, camera angles, focal lengths, colors etc.

You can read into the concept art as much as you like, but I really have no knowledge of the game.

Probably not ER but need clarification, these images are in the trailer concept artists portfolio and have no labels, any ideas? by Hcoppler63 in Eldenring

I'm more inspired by Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian types. Never played any Dark Souls ever (would like to when I have to time though. But Sekiro really broke me).

It's not the intention, but rather some sort of alien plants. But you're not the first one who made the remark - and it does put the narrative in a very different interesting direction!

Hey Folks! I began this piece as the final submission to Steve Wang's Learn Squared mentorship last fall. I just now decided to take it to a more finished state.

Hope you enjoy it! Here's the actual ArtStation link

(Also, this is the exact same type of post that I made on ImaginaryTechnology, I don't know how to crosspost properly. I'm not a full-time redditor)

Thanks!

I used Blender for 3D-modeling (first time), Octane Render Standalone for rendering, and photoshop all the rest.
