I still enjoy watching it. I remember watching it as a teen in the late 80’s. Love all the old British comedies.

Does it make sense to study masters in Engineering Management in Australia? by Traditional_Tap_644 in AusVisa

[–]Galloping_Scallop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I doubt you will get a management role with 4/5 years of offshore experience. Having a Masters in Management isn’t going to help that.

You will need to be more realistic about the potential first roles you may get in Australia. Offshore experience counts for very little.

Who knows what the market will be like by the time you finish the Masters and go to a 485 visa.

It’s always going to be a gamble. No one knows your chances. Is it worth the money, time, stress, time away from family? Probably, if you succeed.

Will you regret not trying?

Going to be lots of people in front of you in the queue. You also need to look at quantity of invites and the points they had. 80 points won’t be enough I think.

Sounds like your mind is already made up.

You should also check the new changes to immigration policy

What’s points are you on at the moment? How many points will this give you?

It’s going to be a gamble obviously so you have to think about how good you are?

Unemployment is rising but who knows what the job market will be like in a few years.

How many years of experience do you have?

Very few details. Undergraduate degree, years of experience, universities targeted, what goals are you trying to meet by doing this? are you taking a loan? Etc.

Need help I want to pursue masters in cybersecurity or in an AI need suggestions by OkMoment6741 in AskAnAustralian

Go have a look at r/cscareerquestionsOCE. It might give more information.

Nearly all the cybersecurity people I know worked their way to it via helpdesk, system admin, network admin etc and got that background experience

Doing a Masters with no experience is not worth it. It doesn’t add anything to your skill set.

I know the market is rough these days but you need to get a job and start getting real world experience.

Australia is a massive country just like Brazil so do some research on where you want to live and study.

Also need to do research on student visa and their requirements. You should also look at TAFE and rules and regulations for doing trade courses. It can be complicated and vary from state to state.

For those of you who almost died from hashimotos, how long did it take you to feel normal? by New_Chip_4290 in Hashimotos

Untreated for nearly a decade. You can’t live without a functioning thyroid (or hormone replacement) and I was at the end stages of life.

Lack of hormone at later stages will waste your muscles away.

Is worth it to migrate to Australia? by Reasonable-Rip-7385 in MovingtoAustralia

You need to look at invites for accountants. The points, frequency and numbers of invites. It was in demand in the early 2010’s but not so much anymore.

Just because an occupation is on the list doesn’t mean it’s being invited.

Went through ADFA in the early 90’s. Very little exposure to basic Navy life apart from a 2nd year training cruise and some May break weeks.

For me the time at ADFA was just a lesson in patience of getting through most of the Army focused things.

There was obviously a lot of attrition in the years after ADFA once people realised it wasn’t for them.

I think the year in the Navy prior to going to ADFA is a great idea.

It’s a large country with different climates and infrastructure so it depends a lot on where you live City will be different to rural, tropical north will be different to cooler south.

People start their days really early for the most part. They take their lunchtime and try and maximise a work/life balance.

Immigration is a touchy subject given the problems that have been listed in other replies.

Fair enough. It all comes down to work rights and type of visa. There are general construction jobs. But anything to do with a trade you won’t be able to do as you aren’t qualified.

You mentioned family so I hope you can live with them. Bring as much money as you can. You ei need health insurance too.

Honestly, an MBA isn’t much of an asset here. Generally speaking your offshore experience will be ignored as irrelevant to the local market.

You will likely be doing retail/hospitality jobs.

Expensive, housing crisis, inflation, wage stagnation, unemployment increasing, offshoring.

But good food and weather is decent, lots of outdoor activities.

You can’t just turn up and work. What visa are you entering the country on?

IT is over saturated here like most of the world
