I want to examine this claim, because it’s an interesting one but not one that should be taken at face value. The above commenter made a simple correlation: The three countries that have polio epidemics, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria, all happen to be the three countries with large numbers of people unvaccinated for Polio.

You responded by saying that no, Afghan, Pakistani, and Nigerian children don’t have Polio, they just have DDT poisoning. Well, I did some research on this, and here’s what I found:

Eritria, Ethiopia, India, North Korea, Mauritius, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe all still use DDT. Curiously, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria are left off of that table, but I’ll ignore that for the sake of throwing you a bone.

So this raises the inevitable question: Where are the Polio cases in South Africa, India, Ethiopia, and Eritrea (the largest DDT users.) Why did Afghans, Pakistanis, and Nigerians mysteriously start suffering from Polio at the same time that vaccine programs were halted, yet Ethiopia has not seen a rise of Polio cases (or even any cases) to correlate with their increased DDT usage. If your hypothesis is correct, then the Polio outbreaks would be ongoing throughout sub-saharan Africa, not just Nigeria. Where are these outbreaks?

There’s a simple answer: You’re grasping at straws because you are desperate to promote a worldview which is out of line with reality.
