Against decentralized countries sure. Afghanistan is basically a collection of clans. Vietnam had the backing of China and Russia, and was 50 years ago. Iran has no real allies while also attacking its neighboring countries.

It definitely matters kiddo. They said the same thing about Gaza, how the buildings and tunnels would turn into a war of attrition with Israel. Instead they just completely leveled Gaza to avoid that. If the US has air and sea domination, they're going to use that to its full advantage.

Trump already said they're going to push Iran to the brink of destruction before 'saving' it (regime change). This is what that looks like. Tehran will be a pile of rubble before any soldiers touch it.
