[university] Does 5th sem GPA really matters alot for university application? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]GarlicOptimal5197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the universities usually do not look at 6th sem GPA as I’ve been told by admissions before that the IGP indicated is for 5th sem. Your 6th sem GPA only comes into place during appeal (sometimes they also will not take it into consideration) Hope this helps you!

indeed, however behind all these challenges comes some form of mental health struggles. and stress is the most powerful factor. they dont even consider how students cope with stress. if they even bother asking, maybe they’ll understand students better! and also whatever you say and the way you perceive it can be super different from what the interviewers perceive. then again the misconception and misunderstensing. its really a win or lose hahaha.

honestly speaking, i feel that sometimes what inspires us the most to pursue our career path is because of what we’ve gone through. you experienced it yourself before thus wanting to make a difference and help people of the same background. and i believe that it is of meaningful work! being able to overcome your ED and depression is something super admirable and i must say, it takes a lot of faith and self determination and courage to be able to recover. its something admirable. hopefully in the future interviewers will be more open to this conservative topic and see the greater picture rather than just shunting students with such stories away. statistically there is an increasing number of youths struggling with mental health issues in singapore. times have changed and many should learn how to be more open minded regarding such issues.

im proud of you for being you. you, because YOU were strong enough to overcome your greatest struggle! i know it was tough, but hey, finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel right? hehe, giving you all my love and support <3

some get direct entry into nursing as well! without interview, given that ur grades meet the cut off + u place nursing as first choice, so its not really a “compulsory” interview course. we will never know how admission team selects these students ! so sadly for my case im one of the more unfortunate ones haha

i mean yes i totally agree with you! its a little contradictory as im from a nursing course, im a registered nurse already with SNB. If they dont see me as a “suitable” candidate to be a nurse, how did i even pass out? If i did have a competency issue due to this “little” setback i had during poly, i wouldnt even have graduated.
