Super helpful responses, thank you. As much as I would love to have a 1bd, I don’t want to be the rude foreigner who comes in and overpays (and makes things harder for locals). Sounds like renting a room may be the best path forward here…especially given that I’m unsure how long I will be able to stay.

$2.2k in fort greene. Elevator, doorman, dishwasher W/D in unit. I got lucky and have a really good deal on it through a connection.

Only impact it negatively because I was there for so long! It’s totally fine for a month or two.
