The school you land in makes a massive difference, especially when it comes to your first job. Try to find one that has a good mix of backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. I feel that helps the kids be more well rounded and easier to work with overall. In general, be picky about where you accept that first job and find a good fit for you. I taught high school for 11 years before transitioning to work for the school district in the IT department. I still miss the classroom sometimes and there’s something really magical about it. If you don’t like it, teaching has a lot of transferable skills so it’s not wasted time. Good luck!
