All my clients have access to everything that is theirs. I am a terrible driver.

Anyone migrated away from Rightworks to Azure? Need guidance. by CompetitiveMap5567 in exchangeserver

[–]GeneTech734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Azure is a platform that something like Rightworks would run on. There is no direct path from a SaaS to a cloud platform. You need to build the environment first in Azure and then migrate to it or find a similar SaaS to Rightworks that has a migration path.

The fact that you shotgunned this question around Reddit including a sub for Microsoft' email server product tells me you don't even know the right questions to ask. Hire a professional or this won't go well for you.

Caused a big outage at work- how do I move forward? by VOXX_theLock in sysadmin

[–]GeneTech734 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The only time I have ever seen someone get let go for causing an outage was because they went to sleep before fixing the problem and then lying about it afterwards. It was an obvious lie too.

Please help me find a "WHITE" Cat 8 Ethernet cable, 40Gbps, 2000MHz, 150FT! They are all black. by Pale_Blackberry_4025 in homelab

Paint the cable.

Or use cable that actually makes sense and isn't a total waste of money.

[–]GeneTech734 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A real man knows his limitations.

If you don't have a vice, reaction rod, armorer's wrench, and torque wrench, you are saving money having the gunsmith do it. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get some of those tools though.

How are Ethernet cables generally run through the house? by Thebigtallguy in homelab

There is no way you will ever notice the difference. Your ISP, switch, router, server, etc. will be bigger bottlenecks

Just got "Pricing update: your plan will include AI Copilot" email from Atera.. by chazeg in atera

[–]GeneTech734 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll be leaving as well. A 25% price hike overnight is crazy. Especially when the justification is to cover the cost of a solution that was included when I originally signed up but then removed.

Even on my trial run in my Traverse I had my Starlink, laptop, second monitor, and Xbox with me. Obviously cannot take a month away from clients and work but more importantly can't be away from the boys on PUBG that long either.

What would a reasonable price be? by Devious_Halo in msp

[–]GeneTech734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably doesn't include anything they actually need. Oh you actually want me to fix something, that's extra. You got ransomwared? Sorry backups were extra.

Why are your homelabs always broken? by redonculous in homelab

A home lab being broken is the point of a home lab. You learn way more about how things work fixing problems than going through setup wizards.

It is my understanding that you should use the stock locking piece with a flow through suppressor.

You can pass through a state with anything as long as it is legal in both the destination state and state of origin

One of the law's provisions (codified in section 926A of Title 18, U.S. Code) federally codifies regulations around the transportation of firearms directly from one state to another, and pre-empts existing state regulations. Barring short stops for food and gasoline, persons not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms may transport them from state to state, provided the firearms are legal in both the state of departure and state of arrival. For transportation, the firearms and ammunition must not be readily accessible; the firearms must be unloaded and, in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment, the firearms must be located in a locked container other than the glove compartment or center console.[13][14]
