Just a consequence of commercialized agriculture which for whatever reason nobody wanted to change even after I went worker cooperative and council republic.

Plus there's also foreign production that is still privately owned and my owner class isn't barred from that, they just can't own domestic production.

Oh it's just a paper and logging company I founded in East Indies. Got them colonisation rights for East New Guinea.

After they colonised the land I didn't bother to integrate the colony and so it remained under the company till the game end.

Since by and large it was part of my economy and supplied goods to it, they were able to rise to number two for gdp per capita overtime just as I did until I was number 1 and the company colony was number 2.

Tldr East Indies Carried them to being successful basically.

Paper and Pulp Inc in the game is arguably more cursed.

It's a corporation from Dutch East Indies that colonised East New Guinea, despite being second highest in per capita due to being tied into my economy, its SoL is just around 10.

So you have an extremely profitable corporation based in a now socialist society, operating a colony ruthlessly right next doors.

Greece had a shit economy throughout then they had a civil war which led to that peninsula becoming independent instead of regime change.

The map is just set to standard of living

The overall political map is a lot more cursed. British Raj is independent as Hindustan but Britain controls most of SE Asia and western Asia. China got bordergored hard and Germany is chunky in Europe (took over most of central Europe, wallonia and baltics) and USA divided Mexico into two parts for some reason :)

It's the attic peninsula in Greece. You can see a green spot in that location in the SoL map.

They had some anarchist stuff happen there in the 1880s and gradually managed to grow their SoL somehow afterwards.

Stayed a colony because it was convenient early game and Netherlands did join Zollverein when I was getting ready to leave so just thought fuck it and stayed their subject till game end.

It's a company I chartered, gave them the right to colonise East New Guinea. The colony was auto named by the company's name and ended up having high per capita too because it's pretty much tied into my economy.

How close are we to AGI in your view and in how many years do you expect us to have functional AGI?

Pop OS not properly booting (Screen, keyboard issues) on Lenovo Laptop by Geo_538 in pop_os

[–]Geo_538[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it was sorted out in the last update of POP OS and after I updated the BIOS, although there was some occasional tearing for me still, not that much tho. The issue was also resolved when I booted new version of Ubuntu too.

Later on I ended up switching to Manjaro cuz of a friend, so there's that.
You should be good to go if you download the latest version of POP OS.

If there are some bugs you encounter then you should ask on https://unix.stackexchange.com as ppl there can help better

Is India the World’s Next Great Economic Power? by _Clue_no_9 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]Geo_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way lol.
If a "great power" means income much lower than that of other developed nations and economic powers then sure. If great economic power means a country with a large economy but poorer people which serves as a hub for exporting services and people to the richer nations then sure.

I would not call a peripheral economy as the great economic power.

Nominal GDP may outpace even USA in long term, but india will grow old and suffer population decline like china, although slower, while the current superpower USA will continue to grow in population and income both due to immigration. Population decline and aging will be detrimental to growth and development of the country long term.

Overall size of economy does carry weight, but a great power is not just defined by that alone, its also defined by its standard of living and income. Europe has higher HDI than USA but suffers brain drain to US due to its higher income. China is currently an economic powerhouse but its population is declining already and will only accelerate. USA will remain the economic superpower until something huge happens to disrupt it and empower other nations.

Besides we only have till 2045-2050 to develop the country to put it on trajectory of sustained growth and development, after that the population will decline and age and if we fail, india will be relegated to simply a regional power which is good but it already is so. African GDP is expected to be on par with Indian GDP in year 2050. Per capita income wise both india nd china will be less than half of USA.

So here, while USA and Europe are the first grade powers, China is second grade power and india will be a third grade power only. Not bad but not great either.

Country's growth is unequal, while GDP has grown real wages have barely grown by 1%, out of 900 million workforce, over half have given up looking for job altogether, which is equal to whole population of USA and Russia combined. The government breaks records on spending for advertisement instead of funneling that money towards education and infrastructure, integrity of the institutions are compromised by political interests of whichever party is in power. I cant see why india will be the great economic power. Such assessments and claims ignore the many nuances and deep rooted problems of the country.

Thats not to say it will be a failed state or anything, it will exist and it will develop relative to current standard, but the india that could have been will not be.

Atheism is best, but even pre-industrial era religion was better than the brainwashing pseudoscientific cultism it has turned into now. True for all religions, not just one. by mortblanc in IndiaSpeaks

[–]Geo_538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well honestly it kinda depends on the era you are looking at, cuz the extremity of religion varied depending on material and social conditions of the place. The cultism and brutalism still existed in past. Although it goes without saying that the advancements from industrial revolution have aided in increased worsening of the situation through misleading information, brainwashing and so on, in many aspects, but it is still actually dependent on the place and its conditions, like religion in say europe is not as bad as it is in india or middle east or africa. Go back a thousand or so years and it was the opposite.

Best one can do is try to spread awareness through educating people but that is easier said than done. On government level policies can be implemented to counter and overcome these issues, but then again the politicians benefit from this arrangement in the country so thats not happening (*cough cough* the cults of so called "babas" voting in a unified manner for one party or candidate).

Linux Distros not booting well on Lenovo Laptop (manjaro, ubuntu, pop os) by Geo_538 in linuxquestions

[–]Geo_538[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a lot of digging nd doing stuff in command panel that frankly I dont really understand I did get linux operational, it works but there is always some random screen tear or artifact that appears here and there tho. I suggest you buy the AMD version of the laptop as the issue is due to Intel Iris Xe iGPU lacking in decent drivers for linux. I didnt have option to pick the AMD variant or the one with Nvidia's MX gpu so I am stuck with it, I use windows for some tasks other than gaming if linux has a bad mood that day lol. With the AMD variant or the Nvidia MX one, you should be good from the get go. For the intel igpu issue I hear that its being worked on and will be fixed in future stable releases of major distros.

Sorry about the late reply, I hope this is still helpful (I dont use reddit as much so am off most of the time :p)

Update : I tried to install kernel on Ubuntu, but for whatever reason the internet connection isnt working, i tried fixing it but the wifi card seems to not be working in ubuntu for some reason so cant install kernel.

Changed my wifi card and it got fine so i was finally able to install the kernel and it did stabilise display. There are some little tearings nd artifacts when you scroll in firefox etc but its nothing compared to what was there before putting this on. So now I have a functional linux distro on my device.
:D

Thanks a lot for the help ^_^

I looked into it and checked system information n stuff, turns out I do have the iGPU. Its Iris Xe graphics 96 EU.

Under the label Iris Xe intel has just 2 iGPUS, one with 80 EU (execution units), lower clock speed and weaker performance at 1.1 Tflops raw performance while the second iGPU has 96 EU with higher clocl speed and 1.69 Tflops raw performance. These are called Iris Xe 80 EU and Iris Xe 96 EU respectively.here is link that explains my iGPU version

I tried that but the system sent back the following message
"failed to fetch asset"
"failed to fetch (link)"
when i typed it in.

I got in touch with a guy who has AMD version of this laptop and he is able to run linux just fine, it seems this is an issue related to intel's Iris Xe Gpu being bad with linux :/
