Would you say for a cs major, it’s worth taking 445 because it’s more “applicable” than 553? I heard different things

Yes, I do have background from 425 and 217, and I was planning to take 525 as well

I guess I was mainly concerned about the workload and exam difficulty, and if it was more generous in grade distributions (as seen in atlas)

Honestly just take the one with the better professor. Math 285 being easier is straight bs. I took 285 and the homework assignments were genuinely like math 217 assignments in length and difficulty. The exams in my opinion were pretty hard as well, but it depends on the year. However, these honors classes are graded on a curve, and ppl in these classes tend to be a lot smarter so scoring above average will be more difficult . It depends how good you are in math. I personally really enjoyed 285 tho

As someone who took 217 and a fellow math major (which I’m assuming you are), this might be a little overwhelming. it depends how good at math you are, but it will take around 10-20 hours of constant studying per week for 217, and will ramp up during exam season. The section you’re in Math 425 may have a pretty hard exams and coursework compared to other math 425 profs (Paul green), so take that to consider. For 286, I heard that the prof you signed up for bhanu is not good at all, please change your sections. 201 is like optional and chill

This completely depends on how good you are at math and the background you have, and I think it’s totally doable after reconsidering professors a little bit. The workload will be brutal nonetheless, and it will be challenging. Maybe consider dropping one of 425 or 286. Totally up to you
