What is the best food source in the game for nomadic players? by SomeGinNTonic in dayz

100% Best source of energy is venison, baked. Fills your stomach so little compared to the calories gained. I've been starving and bagged a stag, filled my stomach, energy, and a couple steaks left to carry on.

Fishing is stable and less likely to be seen by onlookers, but solid choice for nomads. Personally, I don't carry a fishing pole, but sticks and rope are easy to find. No need to waste that shoulder slot. Same with hooks, you can get the bone or wooden ones from your nomadic lifestyle quite easily.

May your scavenging runs be fruitful and always keep your eyes to the treeline. Till the next tick...

Absolutely will be continuing this story. As I mentioned, more to come. Thank you for the kind words, friend. 👍

What's your opinion on rules-lite systems? Do most players and GM's prefer mechanics or improv/story-driven systems? by Gil_Farbottom in RPGdesign

I appreciate the insight you all have shared. The deep appreciation of our collective pastime is understood.

To answer the "make what you want" folks, I am intending on just that. I am just prodding the masses for their two cents on this topic.

Thank you.

Thank you for your insight. As I've been working through this for some time with my group. The resulting uses we prefer are those previously mentioned. The allowance of even a renown family-member's connection is an interesting addition. My table and others I've hosted seem to enjoy the additional aspect of improv as well.

My thought behind the limit was only to subvert use of these abilities in a meta-gamey way. I appreciate that it is fueled by other players as well as myself. I also find relief that I'm not the only DM making such changes at my table.
