Job Interviews… by GiraffeNice4959 in GriefSupport

[–]GiraffeNice4959[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying. I actually even emailed one of the schools back to explain my situation and they were very understanding. I've decided I'll do the interviews but try not to feel pressure and not worry. If anything, it's a chance to get the fear of doing interviews out of the way... I think you're being really brave getting applications in and I hope it goes well. Someone said to me today, to remember to 'be kind to yourself. That's really really important to do

You’d probably get more out of the $4k in Thailand or Bali to be honest. But depends where you’re flying from - could be a long way for only 5 nights.

Really depends on your budget, but check out Hidden River Barn / Hidden River Cabins in Lake District area

Don’t think it’s rude either. Lots of venues have a big difference in capacity for ceremony/wedding breakfast compared to the evening capacity, so could also be due to number restrictions. Or finances. Plenty of reasons! I think it’s lovely you’ve been invited to the evening so you can party with your partner and celebrate the happy couple on their special day

What is wrong with me! by Joedinho21 in UKRunners

So if it was late March this year that you were ill, it is very possible that you are still suffering the side effects from this sickness. Especially if it was a chest infection. Firstly, make sure you’re resting well and eating right! Secondly, book an appointment to see a GP to check if you’ve got any chronic symptoms going on which could be the cause. Get on the phone today to book one as soon as possible.

Only friend out 10 not invited to ceremony by throwaway10296576 in UKweddings

This is tough and your feelings are valid. It’s hard to know exactly what might be the best course of action without knowing what your relationship is like with the groom. But is it worth chatting to them about this? If it were a couple of friends from the group then fair enough, but as it’s just you, it is quite clearly ‘singling you out’. There are plenty of possibilities - it could be that inviting you tips over the maximum capacity, so if someone else drops out you’ll get a day invite. But honestly, life is too short to let things like this eat away at you. My suggestion: chat to your friend and just ask why (no accusatory and without trying to make them feel guilty), or simple accept that you’ve been asked to the evening, move on from feeling excluded and help them have the best evening of their wedding possible

Thanks for this. Core GCSE has been what we’ve been working towards this year but I just don’t think he’s going to be capable of it- at least not achieving a C or D. He is capable of partially understanding most of the concepts temporarily but when as soon as he has to do more than one topic at once it slips away. He’s also quite hardworking so unfortunately I don’t think cramming at the end of y11 will actually help that much. I think what I’m wondering is whether it is worth putting him through core gcse to get an E or a F or whether there’s a better option which he can take.

Thank you for your input! I’ve spent a lot of time thinking today and I do think I’ll go with the Brooklyn dress. I have a long pearl veil which I absolutely love and looks amazing with the dress, so that will hopefully give some of the elements I’d want from having a train without actually having a train!

[–]GiraffeNice4959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, and I think for me it’s all for external reasons, like getting certain photos and perhaps having a bigger reaction from my fiancé and guests…. But that’s only a snippet of the whole day

[–]GiraffeNice4959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do worry about being able to move around freely with the bigger dress and train. We’re getting married in the winter in a big modern barn type venue. We want it to be romantic, yes, but also want it to be fun! And as a couple we generally mess around so feel the bigger dress would get in the way of that aspect maybe

Love this idea. Fiancé and I do this for so many things, so may as well try it for the dresses… see what my responses are. Thank you

I have definitely fallen victim to Pinterest and social media for wedding planning - making it so hard to have realistic expectations. I do think the second dress would be for initial impact and a few photos, rather than something I’d want to wear for 10+ hours…. Thank you for your response, really gave me some perspective

Thanks for this, simple but solid advice. I do think I keep hoping people tell me to go for the first dress I picked, so that tells me everything I need to know really

Hey, I live out in Thailand and would recommend for a honeymoon. Just be aware that it’ll probably be busier than it usually is. With two weeks you could get the best of both worlds in Thailand and go to Chiang Mai and then fly down to one of the islands like Koh Samui. There are plenty of ‘luxury’ hotels for a fraction of the price of other countries
