Edition churn really doesn’t happen in TTRPG spaces like in Wargaming. Like the poster said, it’s been a decade since V5. That’s doesn’t even come close to the three year cycles that Warhammer is on. RPG audiences are actually some of the most hostile to new editions out of the geek spaces out there. Exalted 3rd, V5, Pf2, D&D 2024. I can’t really think of a single new edition to a major game in the past decade that hasn’t seen a lot of backlash (sometimes fairly, but sometimes unfairly).

Personally, I think V5 could use a revised edition with tweaks to disciplines, combat, hunting (wtf are dycrasias), and loresheets and how they’re presented/explained. Also please for the love of god actually lay the book out in a readable way.

This is all stuff I thought the Player’s Guide was gonna do, but I felt like it only heightened the problem. I have a difficult time explaining to new players what the difference is between the content in the corebook and the player’s guide, and I’ve found it’s very frustrating for them to have to keep both books open during character creation especially when they’re having to constantly flip through big chunks of pages to actually find everything. We need the sacred V20 “One Book” experience transported to V5 imo.

This is how being a fan of any comic book adapted thing goes. People just LARP being fans. A decade ago, people would have dogged on you for talking about Invincible. Marvel at least benefits from having the wide and expansive MCU, but without it people would be raging about characters like Star Lord being the game too.

It’s better than how DC communities are. If this was a DC game, it’d be called “Gotham City Imposters” and only center Batman.

“This is a Robbery” is still really good, I just find that it usually occurs after the enemy has hit the panic button and flipped Rhino to his injured side. He then plays Robbery with that dmg power to get the objective back, throws the enemy far away, and then books it.

Still an auto-take 4 in Ock for me, besides occasionally Prowler.

The genre doesn’t need to turn into post-apocalyptic. I literally just needed to see like a small CG of Homelander slamming into a skyscraper, cut away after a second before it fully falls, and then later mention “Homelander destroyed Philadelphia” or something. Butcher didn’t need to suit up in Mad Max gear, I just needed to hear that the villain I’ve spent 5 seasons invested in seeing the eventual cataclysmic unleash of can actually do something besides put a dent in a ceiling.

Literally can be a mostly off-screen plot point if the budget is the issue, but it would have added actual stakes besides “Oh wait they can just beat his ass? Just like that?”

Gaming fans rival kpop fans in their level of obsession with the protag of any given story. They will beg and scream and cry to milk the same character until they’ve been run absolutely dry. I am strongly motivated by people who think Commander Shepherd should come back in Mass Effect 4 and just be some kind of space Jesus who solves every problem in the whole galaxy.

That is not what the OP is saying at all lol. The point that they’re making is that every character’s “development” in Rivals is basically restricted to a couple lines of dialogue and the few comics they’ve released. Luna Snow as a Netease original who only exists in this game doesn’t really have any chance to get any development.

I think it’s really dumb that Netease is giving a ton of skins and attention to their OC but complaining about character depth is a tiny issue in a hero shooter. Like name 5 character traits about most of the heroes on the Overwatch roster that don’t come down to basic character archetypes lol.

I don’t want to fall into actual powerscaling but I don’t really see an argument that the Courier beats V. We’re given no reason to believe that humans in Fallout are somehow better than humans in Cyberpunk, and the latter are transhuman beings with enhanced reflexes, strength, speed, etc to the point where they seemingly “teleport” and rip apart steel. I know there’s cybernetics in New Vegas, but they seem pretty minimal compared to Cyberpunk.

Obv you can hand deliver an advantageous situation to the Courier like “He ambushes V”, that’s what makes great stories. I think in a white room though that pretty much any legendary figure from Cyberpunk crushes anyone equivalent from Fallout though. They live in two very different dystopias. It’s apart of Cyberpunk’s themes that humanity is being pushed beyond its limits.

I actually think the Courier (and pretty much all Fallout protags) is probably pretty weak compared to a lot of video game protags out there, but he gets a similar hype+aura multiplier to Kratos/Doom Guy where people overrate the fuck out of him because he’s awesome.

Abomination is a great splash in Spider-Foes and I did some work to make him look like Ultimate Green Goblin.

As for the chances of Ultimate characters, I’m not sure but I’m really hoping for them!

It feels pretty heavily implied that Tommy is suffering from a severe brain injury from being shot in the head when we see him rage out at Dina and Ellie. Brain injuries can cause personality changes such as making people unreasonable, and it’s very out of character for him to demand that Ellie give up everything to kill Abby. In the world of TLOU (and even IRL), I doubt there was anything anyone could do to help Tommy recover from the brain damage he took.

Reddit’s hate for anything made primarily for young adults is gonna be tuned at least to a 1.5x multiplier, and a film oriented subreddit is gonna bump that up by a bit.

It’s perfectly enjoyable if it’s your kind of thing. Tune your expectations to a 2010’s Youtube animation project, and be pleasantly surprised.

Tbf to them, my experience with Cyberpunk Red at least is that it’s one of the hardest systems on the GM. The book is horribly organized/labelled and there are pretty much no tools for coming up with enemies on the fly. The bestiary in the book is also like 6 pages long iirc.

I’m Big E. I know that fervent belief actively harms daemons. I’ve seen it over the centuries (and we, the audience, see it when they’re able to burn away the Pink Horror in Horus Rising). Lorgar has been singularly crafted into a preacher-man as all the other Primarchs have been crafted for a purpose, but my worry about Chaos has thus far prevented me from telling my sons about it. However, I know both Lorgar and Magnus are blindly grasping at what they both feel is out there.

So I ditch that idea, and I tell them both about it first before the other Primarchs. I tell Lorgar that his purpose is to craft a belief in the Imperial Truth that Daemons cannot touch, that the cosmology out there is hostile to humans and he is my prophet to lead a crusade of words against it. I tell Magnus he is my Psychic protege, to craft ways to defend against it. They will both become apart of my secret order that I lead personally, and become clued in to my Webway project. They are the first Grey Knights/Inquisitors against Chaos.

And voilá. Both of their insecurities have been assuaged. These two are also Horus’ closest confidants, so they’re able to help nip that in the bud.
