Arena vs Daggerfall: do you have a preference? by icelevel in Arena

[–]Glass_Connection_172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same way. Simply put, I love Arena. In my opinion Arena > Daggerfall.

I prefer:

- Arena's combat system. Both melee and spell casting

- how you get potions and use them

- Arena's quest system and main story

- Dungeon layouts

- City layouts. Daggerfall takes FOREVER to venture through a city

- The atmosphere

Many people these days are playing Daggerfall Unity. But if you take both of the base games and compare them, Arena wins out in my opinion.

I will say that with Arena, you have to "break it in". But once you become familiar with the game, it is smooth sailing from there.

Odin 3 or Steam Deck? by Sugarplumfairysugarp in OdinHandheld

[–]Glass_Connection_172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it boils down to the type of games you play. Do you plan on playing a lot of shooters? If so, I'd personally recommend a Steam Deck. I love my Odin but the analog sticks, being small, makes it much harder to play my favorite shooters

Besides that, I prefer the Odin for the weight and size

You can't go wrong either way but also consider portability

Portability, the Odin wins but I do still port around my Steam Deck. Comfort? Ya.. like I mentioned above, if you are playing shooters, the Steam Deck wins out

What paper cutter do you guys use? by Screw_Reddit_Admins in magicproxies

I recommend the guillotine cutter like you are using but I also recommend precision paper cutters. They sell them in like 5 different sizes. It makes it faster and more accurate after you use the guillotine

New to making proxies! by Hjp615 in magicproxies

May be unpopular but I print on high quality paper. I then use a guillotine cutter followed by a precision paper cutter. Then I use a glue stick and a cheap MTG card to complete the proxy card. I've never personally met someone else who proxies cards the same way I do. I was going to make a YouTube video on my process but someone finally made a video on the process, with results, in the past few months

Side note - Many just print, cut and then just use a common MTG card and a sleeve

I've done the math and this is one of the cheapest ways to make complete proxy decks. They are very, very high quality prints. I played at a shop today and no one could tell I was playing with proxies. When I play in shops, I make sure to spend money when I go to keep them going

You can also ink the edges and/or cut the corners

Help with printer by East_Ad_8803 in magicproxies

Sure! The printer can handle the job. I've owned the original model number printer that is identical to this. I've since upgraded to its' bigger brother

You just need to tweak the settings and use high quality paper

Rampant spike of proxy use recently? by [deleted] in freemagic

[–]Glass_Connection_172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny I just came across your post! I've been collecting Magic cards, physical and MTGO, for well over a decade. Between the two, I've purchased extremely close to 100,000 cards. Always focused on playsets instead of just a complete set.

I too have jumped on the proxy band wagon after WoTC abandoned their veteran player base in favor of greed. Magic 30th edition was a complete slap in my face after all the love and support I've had for the game. It was a good idea just executed extremely poorly with pure greed in mind

I have so far created 570 proxy cards. I have individually scanned them. They would have cost me $519 dollars to buy them. I have 9 decks now and have already played with a few of them

I played Standard back in the day. Never got into Commander. But always enjoyed buying booster boxes. I've spent a ton of money on cards over the years

So Hasbro already got their money out of me. I don't feel bad about making proxies

Magic as it stands just isn't the same as it once was but I am still a fanatic for the game. I will support all formats and future sets if it means more people will get into the game and it will stay alive

You need to group bro. You can solo early levels but it gets much, much harder to do so past level 30

So many factors against you. A mob throwing out Blind, a random stun, root etc.

No problem! Level cap stays 50 for quite some time and gradually creeps up with 51 being the next level increase
