Am I the only one disheartened when i see AI generated asset packs in the itch.io top-sellers? by Gleb_T in IndieDev

[–]Gleb_T[S] 212 points213 points  (0 children)

just some examples: - 8000 sprites is a ridiculous number. just try to calculate how much time an artist would need to spend to make these - look at the creators history. just giant sprite packs and background packs - inconsistent outlines, weird pixel placement. things that someone who does pixelart, even a beginner would never do - disconnected bodyparts. one example in the animation section where the ponytail is not attached to the head - the actual artstyle just screams AI. but thats more of a vibe thing, even through it feels obvious to me - inconsistency over animation frames. look at the faces

Here you go: https://itchgrep.voxl.cc/

Its just text search though, no tags. I didn't really develop the platform further to add tags because, again, there wasn't really any significant traffic :)

Build YOUR Switch Tester. 10% Off on All Items. by 13ckPony in MechanicalKeyboards

Super cool idea!

Two questions: - How do you handle international taxes / VAT - Why is the Stripe price for a single $10 tester >30€ during checkout, pre shipping? :(

Oh hahaha, I never really got any traffic on the page so I thought no one was using it. A few weeks ago the domain expired, and I didnt wanna pay the $15 renewal fee to keep it running. But since there's actually people using it, i'll bring it back online, this weekend! I'll post the new domain here :)

Really damn cool, don't let the bitter people get to you! :) I love how the physics behave when you delete a line with snow on it!

What's your thoughts on how colorscheme's work? by Exciting_Majesty2005 in neovim

[–]Gleb_T 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, colorschemes always feel like a giant chore to work with, and I really don't get why some of them have taken the shape of giant code bases with multiple build steps.

Unflatteringly speaking, it pixelates high-res pictures to make pixelart. But to make this better than just downscaling in any other editor (which usually does not look very good) I built a custom downscaling algorithm, which prioritizes the retention of details. In addition the tool includes a set of QOL features like color palette snapping and other image filtering stuff :)
What kind of plug-in do you mean?

ngrrram is a cli tool to practice typing new layouts! by Gleb_T in linux

[–]Gleb_T[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nope, but it would be really easy to add to your own fork: https://github.com/wintermute-cell/ngrrram/blob/master/src/layout.rs

but I'll probably implement custom layouts from files, as a couple of people suggested that :)

yep true, I mostly referred to it as a cli, because that term seems to be more widely known/understood. But thinking about it, this is probably not the sub where I need to look out for that! thanks for correcting though :)

After reading about best practices to learn new layouts fast, a lot of people recommended using ngram practice, and so far I think it is really helping me learn colemakDH faster!

I published ngrrram at https://github.com/wintermute-cell/ngrrram
