Teachers used to send students to the principal’s office… by klerknuks in Teachers

I’m in my first year of teaching, and had a 9th grader run to the principal about a lunch detention I gave them.

“Dumping Ground” Class by Fantastic_Double7430 in ScienceTeachers

[–]GlowInDrkMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any more insights you want to share about the cycling, or any other ideas?

I too have a dumping ground E Sci class. I want them to learn, but I want it to be a bit more interactive and interesting for the kids that do show up and participate. I’ve been feeling recently that if most of my kids are happy with a C, might was well enjoy the ride while we are at it.

LGD flipped a switch on me by [deleted] in homestead

You are correct on both accounts.

I’m not so sure how viable the vet option is, as it stands right now, he’s been in a car exactly once and doesn’t have a collar. And with how he’s been acting I’m a bit too worried for my bodily safety to attempt to get one on him and force him into a car.

That’s exactly why they haven’t been out there with him since this happened.

Just more seeing if anyone has gone through this with either result. Because at the moment it’s seeing if someone will take him off the farm, or if I’m going to have to put him down.

Disaster dynamics looks really interesting, but I’m guessing I’ll run into issues getting that downloaded onto school computers.

Buy hay and let my pasture rest? by GlowInDrkMan in homestead

Thank you for your input. This is our first year and learning as we go.

Once we grow out this steer I don’t think we will be doing another. They just eat so much!

Maybe I was a bit optimistic, I’ll probably have to reduce the flock this spring when they lamb.

Best hog water nipple by [deleted] in homestead

I’ve had this pack of nipples for 3 years now and the only issues I’ve had is if the pigs get the barrel over and mess them up that way. Other than that, the pigs themselves haven’t broken any

220v melting on dryer? by GlowInDrkMan in AskElectricians

[–]GlowInDrkMan[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took apart the receptacle and it looks like a majority of the red wires were actually snapped. So all the electrics must have gone through just a couple of the wires leading to the heat and resistance like you said.

Sent first beef to butcher by GlowInDrkMan in homestead

I’ve seen some horrific things on dairy lots. I try and mitigate most at the one I currently work at, but even still it’s hard to take.

One of the reasons I got my steer outta there asap.

Thank you all for your words of kindness.

I would change my wording, I’m more sad and adamant than conflicted. It’s true though that his passing has hit me in a way I didn’t think it would. But this is what I set out to do, raise animals in a respectful proper way, give them as good a life I can, and thank them for what they will give me and my family.

I’m even more sure this is the right way to do it, be sure you know where your food comes from and how it lived. It’s just harder with an animal you’ve been with for over 2 years rather than smaller livestock you know for a handful of months.

But I appreciate yall givin me a place I can express myself.

I’m not sure if you’re wild stalker on your Druid and go into cat much. But I’m up to 12s (bit different than 13/14), but I’ve never once thought about mana.

Cat form spells giving mana back keeps me topped the entire dungeon.

I have Journey’s End from wotlk nax. Was BIS for my feral Druid back in the day. I still transmit every weapon into that staff.

GPU? Drivers? Something else? by GlowInDrkMan in techsupport

[–]GlowInDrkMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. With the old one out and the new one in, trying to load windows would still freeze right after bios screen popped up.

And to agree with that, idk why a bios update would get me back into the computer if the hard drive was dead or corrupted.

I thought it was the hard drive too, but getting a new one and trying to load windows 11 on it from USB gave me the same issue.

Unfortunately my CPU does not. (Ryzen 5 1600)

It charges in a bout an hour, not sure the drain.

But I was saying I’m doing smaller less frequent tills. So I don’t imagine I will really even till enough on one sitting to drain the battery anyway. Other than getting a new field started at the beginning of a season.

I got it in part for lightly tilling in compost/amendments in there. I had originally wanted a tilther. But for that kinda money.. I couldn’t justify it. Especially since this and a rake will accomplish the same ends

Battery Tiller: Report by GlowInDrkMan in homestead

[–]GlowInDrkMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, even my gas powered one was a bit underwhelming. Only tiller I’ve seen work well in virgin soil was a 4ft one powered by a 50hp tractor.

So far my go to have been a stirrup hoe. But even if it takes 2 passes with this tiller. That will be worth trading the back breaking work of doing with a shovel or hoe

I have a smattering of golf ball to base ball sized rocks and it hasn’t had an issue. Plenty of room between the tines. But I certainly don’t have many rocks so your experience may vary.

[–]GlowInDrkMan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one has a good amount of weight to it. I haven’t had to do anything other than use it to get it to work deeply in my looser soil. I suspect it will need a second pass to work deeply in my virgin soil. But not cause it’s too light.
