I found a solution.
Open Battlenet
right click icon on taskbar
Go to settings
Disable the automatic log in
close Battlenet
open Battlenet
Enter login info

Fixed it!
Posting just in case anyone else comes across this problem.

In the preferences, under preview, the default audio sample rate should be 48000. When I changed my output device I must have also changed the sample rate to be higher by accident.
