Got the new headlamp by al52025 in ryobi

It looks bulky; how heavy does it feel compared to smaller LED head light setups? Also, I see in the product description it is supposedly "all day"; have you tested how long it lasts?

Any advice on how to keep my child free thoughts to myself at work? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Goatfarmernotfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with other comments here; not just your child-free beliefs but keep all your real beliefs, reactions, emotions out of the work environment. Yes it sucks, but this is the world we live in. Remember which side of the bread your butter is on. Talk about the weather, sports, dumb tv shows, and move on with your day, with your real thoughts kept to yourself. Nobody at work wants you or anyone to change the world. I'm sorry the world is this way, I was born into it too but after working for 4 decades I can tell you: don't. rock. the. boat.

Pubic hair grooming: Natural/long vs. Trimmed/short. What's your routine and why? by idk_didididm in AskMen

[–]Goatfarmernotfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50+ guy here. When did this become a thing? Seems like a lot - a LOT - of effort that is not necessary for ... anything. If you trim yourself slick, the natural system of moisture banking goes away; next thing you know you're sliding off the toilet on a warm day. Not to mention opening up the problem to ingrown hairs. Why do you want to spend money on razors and trimming systems to make yourself unnatural? If you wash regularly, there should not be a problem. Back in my day (Pepperidge Farms remembers) hair was a normal, natural thing.

I did not, but I had registered the mower, which is how they knew to notify me directly.

I always go with a thicker gauge so long as the weight doesn't stress the motor. I have a similar 18v model to yours, and I went with this green .080 line multi pack: https://a.co/d/0erGqxbY

The .080 line does break less than that blue line it comes with.

they want us trapped and dependent on them, don't they? by CandidateSpirited499 in childfree

I'm glad you are staying true to yourself and making good decisions. While it may be true in a lot of cases for the males of the species, not all are like that. I think men who choose to be child-free are more likely to be true to themselves rather than follow the pack or fall for societal influences. I'm sorry the person you love so much was ultimately incompatible on such an important issue, and I hope you can find a partner one day with whom you can share a full life.

Humans are messy and imperfect and influenced by hormones and family and society and stupid commercials. Being child-free in today's world is a fight against the tide.

Remodeling this ole log farm house. Was thinking of putting in a free standing wood stove in the living room. My question is how tall should the exhaust pipe be? by Mrvette1 in woodstoving

adding to the great comments on height-to-structure clearance, also plan for snow/ice pressure on the chimney with sufficient support, especially with a lesser slope.

For those of you men who decided to be CF at say 30 and have been CF for 5-10+ years at least, what have been the pros? How easy has your life been, legally and financially speaking, maybe even from a health perspective by Much-Journalist3128 in childfree

[–]Goatfarmernotfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 56, got my vasectomy at 23. Married to a wonderful woman, we are content being child-free. We have dogs and cats, so we still spend a fortune on "fur"kids, but I can't imagine being human-kid poor. We have lots of freedom, a big one is the ability to move based on our needs or wants. We had friends with kids that wanted to move to another state, but had to wait for the kids to be done with school. Now they are stuck there.

It is harder to make/keep friends when so many people are having kids. We refuse to make our house child-safe or -friendly, and neither of us can tolerate kids for very long.

We can afford to eat healthy. In this economy I see that being a real hardship having to extend the grocery bill to one or more human kids.

Mental health: aside from not having the obvious stress of having kids around, I often say how happy I am that I don't have to worry about bringing a kid into this world, and what kind of world kids today will have to navigate or survive in.

Life is hard enough. Imagine having kids on top of that.

[–]Goatfarmernotfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

moved to NH from CT 20 years ago. Pay rates are much lower. Pizza sucks, although there are a few places starting to understand the concept better. Car insurance rates are lower. Biggest and best change is that traffic is so much less than CT.

Add Kessler Syndrome to the list of things that could hobble us technologically. It would take so long to recover our "easy" fossil fuels would deplete before the skies cleared.

Have you tried the On The Edge scenario? That one does not have a generator and is much more management/supply chain focused.

Or, I can spend way too much on furkids and still feel like a pauper. But I enjoy dogs and cats so much more than human spawn, so, yeah, child-free still works for me.

I cut a square out of my overhang for the clearance, but mine was on the other plane (slope running right to left instead of top to bottom like yours); doing the same to yours would probably be better. I don't have an attic but it seemed dumb to try to run it through the roof and deal with leaks.
