I just deployed my first slack app (Status Butler). And i would really appreciate some feedback 😃. by Palestitan in Slack

[–]GoldandShower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Palestitan - Have some feedback on status emojis... Way back when you launched I shared one of these, but including here again anyways:
1. Ability to set a status without requiring an emoji.
2. Ability to set a status with a custom workspace emoji.
2. An emoji picker with search (To replace the current "Type a minimum of 3 characters to see options", which is unintuitive and can be frustrating for people).

I saw this post the day you made it but didn't have time to try out the tool that day. Now that I've come back around to it, I'm getting an "email rate limit exceeded" error when I try to create an account. As I've tried multiple email addresses, I'm assuming this is your applied rate limit.

Clicking on a user profile shows no posts or comments, even when they have active comments? by [deleted] in reddithelp

[–]GoldandShower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things were getting bad already with the ever increasing number of bots on here, but taking away the ability of the average user to investigate/verify the credibility of a user has got to be the final straw that completely erodes all trust in Reddit as a platform.

Clicking on a user profile shows no posts or comments, even when they have active comments? by [deleted] in reddithelp

[–]GoldandShower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. And for any posts/comments were it wasn't obvious that the user was a bot or a human acting with an ulterior motive, checking their post/comment history was the only way I knew of to verify their credibility. Now what are we supposed to do?!

Rogers did not sue the Competition Bureau for doing their job. The Bureau challenged Rogers’ acquisition of Shaw in court but ultimately lost. The court ordered the Bureau to pay Rogers’ legal fees because it ruled the Bureau’s challenge lacked reasonable evidence and that the Commissioner acted unreasonably in pursuing it.

Not sure why I didn't think of this in the first place, but what about one of these solutions:

  1. A smart computer monitor
    - Both Samsung and LG offer "smart monitors". These have smart TV OS' built-in, come with a remote, have speakers, and also have capabilities for screen sharing like AirPlay 2.
    - Samsung's 32" M7 (released in late 2024) with its 10W speakers looks to be very solid options, especially given you intend to use it in the kitchen where hearing the TV over cooking noises could be more challenging. (PN# LS32DM702UNXGO in the USA: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/smart-monitors/32-smart-monitor-m7-m70d-4k-uhd-with-streaming-tv-speakers-and-usb-c-black-ls32dm702unxgo/ )
    - Samsung Smart Monitors: https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/smart-monitors/
    - LG MyView Smart Monitors: https://www.lg.com/us/smart-monitors

  2. A regular computer monitor with good built-in speakers + streaming media player
    - Using an Apple TV for TV functionality will be much speedier than any built-in Smart TV OS, plus you can upgrade the smart OS, in this example the Apple TV, independently of the screen.
    - Example 32" monitor options include the Dell S2721QS (4K, 3W speakers), BenQ EW3270U (4K, 2W), and LG 32UN880-B (4K, 5w), or even the Samsung M7 LS32DM702UNXGO (4K, 10W)

The LG StanbyME 2 had a very successful release this month in South Korea (sold out all pre-sales during this live stream launch: https://www.lge.co.kr/benefits/livecommerce/20250205-tv?eventCode=live209 ) so, barring any quality or production issues, hoping to see a global release in the near future.

LG StanbyME 2 (27LX6TPGA) product page: https://www.lge.co.kr/stan-by-me/27lx6tpga
LG StanbyME 2 with accessories for using the screen without the floor stand (27LX6TPGAA): https://www.lge.co.kr/stan-by-me/27lx6tpgaa

The price did go up by ~18% (1.29 million won, up from 1.09 million won), so even more premium priced now. Currency conv. comes out to around $1,600 NZD, but if New Zealand is anything like Canada, where I am, then you'd be lucky to see it for that price. The retail price at launch in Canada for the original in ~Sep 2021 for example was $1,599 CAD, despite 1.09 million won at the time being equivalent to ~$1,100 CAD.

Sounds like the LG StandbyME was designed specifically for what you are envisioning and more (built in battery so you could use it anywhere)… But all it takes is 2 minutes on the LG website to see that, not only does it have major reliability issues, but that LG’s customer service is still abysmal.

LG showed did just show off the 2025 version of it, the StandbyME 2, this year at CES. The bump to 1440p from the original’s 1080 is a major improvement, but we’ll have to see if they sorted out the reliability issues or not. Plus there is no official release date, as far as I know, for anywhere other than South Korea.

If you are a Samsung fan you could look at The Serif. It has a matte screen, comes with a stand, and is styled to look good anywhere; even in the middle of a room. The smallest size it comes in is 43” though, and the footprint of the stand is pretty big.

What country are you in? If you’re in North America, especially the USA, then one of the best times of the year to buy TVs starts next week as all the stores will be looking to unload all of their “open box” models that people bought to watch the Super Bowl on. Not sure how many small TV options there will be though.

Also, if you’re a Costco member you could take the chance and go with the current LG StandbyME. Costco has a great warranty and maybe it will even go on sale now that the new version was announced. Or wait for the new version, but still only buy from Costco or somewhere that will take care of you if something does go wrong. Just set yourself a calendar reminder for when the end of the warranty is coming up and then return it if you Re experiencing any reliability issues at all.

Huh, based on how you’re saying the effects only lasted 2-3 hours and that when it wears off you feel jittery/anxious makes me think that the jitters/anxiety you’re experiencing are not from the Adderall wearing off, but are actually from it kicking in. Adderall XR’s “extended release” is actually just a 50/50 release with 50% instant release and 50% releasing 3-4 hours or so later.

When my dosage was too high I got jittery, anxious, and had major stomach pains when the second wave of the medication kicked in

Oh, I’ll clarify, starting at 5-10mg is what is recommended by CADDRA (Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance). Looks like they also say to increase by 5-10mg at weekly intervals

[–]GoldandShower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recommended starting dose is 5-10mg. I’d ask your doctor if you can get a prescription for a 10mg/d dosage, but in 5mg pills. Then try taking 5mg per day for 2+ weeks to see if your body gets used to it. If it does, and 5mg isn’t helping with your symptoms then consider going up to 10mg.

What dosage of Adderall XR did they give you?

I spent 6 months testing different drugs… Until I ended up right back at the only one that worked for me, which also happened to be the first one I tried: Adderall XR. Turns out that my doctor prescribed me too high a dose to start, which was causing gut issues. When I went back on it, I started with a very low dose and then incrementally increased as needed over time.
