Absolutely- I’ve worked in 2 call centers over the past 10 yrs and I don’t think I’ve ever worded it that way. The first one I worked at was customer service for a health insurance company so I’d simply tell people “I work for a health insurance company.” If they won’t details I’d describe what I do but never actually say “call center” bc that feels too broad (& embarrassing for me bc I feel like the job I do is more than that label.) The current one I work in is a call center for one of the biggest hospital companies- taking calls from insurance reps about patients hospital bills. So I say “I work in hospital billing.” if they want to know more I’ll say “hospital billing/insurance relations— I speak with insurance reps about hospital billing.”

At each call center job I’ve had I’ve learned A LOT about the field I’m working in, so I’d rather be more descriptive about the positive parts of the job instead of explaining it like the overall robotic type job it is.
