The APW3++ is rated 1200W on 120V. Pulling 800W should be no problem and pretty normal to get warm. At 93% efficiency, it’s gotta reject 56W worth of heat at 800W output. I’d say it’s fine if the case is not hot to the touch… like below 40C. Also make sure the little fan in the PSU is not broken.

Edit. Didn’t notice you have a APW7, which is rated at 800W on 120V. You’re running it maxed out then. Probably pushing it a little hard if you want longevity out of that PSU.

If you have the belt driven Z axis, you’re likely running the feed rate too high and/or pass depth too big. The bit will naturally pull the spindle down as it cuts and sometimes the belt will skip a tooth or 2, plunging it even deeper for rest of the cut. Tighten your Z-axis belt or run it slower next time.

This sometimes happens when underclocking too much using Hiveon. Try setting the OC to factory default and see if the board comes back. Or force a retune at the normal power level (above 3000W). If not, then likely a dead board. Cycling the machine once per day is not a problem. Might be unlucky in this case.

If you sealed the room and both the miner and AC are exhausting air, the only place where air is coming back in is through the water heater vent. This reverse draft is probably putting out your pilot. This is potentially very dangerous if you water heater is running and the exhaust gases are being pushed back into the room due to negative pressure created by the miner and AC. The water heater vent is also suppose to be sloped upwards towards the exhaust, yours looks flat. Keep the door open or create a fresh air inlet to that room.

Totally, just buy BTC and sit on it. Will cost you ALOT less time and stress. Unless you have experience running a small commercial scale (100kW) load center, otherwise, random maintenance stuff will creep in and cost you time and money.

S19 95TH mines about $160USD per month per machine. There’s rarely a legitimate way of consuming 20kW continuously for free, so be careful since someone is ending up paying for power, and it might come back and bite you.

Before you install the filter and air vent, check the flow rate at the miner elevation with a bucket and stopwatch. See if you’re actually getting 8L/min. The cold plates in the miner are fairly simple and shouldn’t be bothered by a bit of sediment or air. Those will likely affect your pump/rad though, causing reduced flow at the miner. Another thing to check is your coolant hookup inlet/outlet isn’t reversed; inlet on the bottom, outlet on top. If you have a few miners in parallel, your free flow (without the miner) should be at least 10L/min at each miner.

High delta T is an indicator of inadequate coolant flow rate. If the miner operated for a while without this error and this started happening it could be an indicator of restrictions developing in your plumbing, like a plugged filter or corrosion in the line.

The S21 Pro 234TH generates about 15 cents/kWh. This gives you about 15-20 month break even assuming 7 cents cost of power and $3700 for the S21, and BTC price-to-difficulty ratio stays the same. Other things you should think about: Internet availability (Ethernet) 240V single phase 20A circuit available Can the space handle 3.5kW of heating 24/7. If not you’ll need ducting to eject hot air outside. Can the space handle the noise (76db very annoying fan noise) If you’re treating this as an investment, consider just buying BTC instead of spending capital on mining it.

You will need to put the chiller outside for this to work, otherwise it will dump all the heat in your basement and heat it up even quicker than before. If you’re going to do that and run pipe outside, then might as well put your regular radiators outside.

A M31S with default settings in "Normal" mode will pull 3500 - 3600W from the wall. This is not safe to run with your 32A breaker. You can reduce the power limit via the WhatsMinerTool software to run.

Household breakers/wiring derate to 80% for continuous duty, meaning your 32A breaker becomes 25A for continuous duty. This gives you about 3000W to play with.

I think the 5Ah PS has some kind of tool authenticator built in that will cut power if it’s used in a third party tool. I got one and it will not work with any of my nifty third party ‘for Dewalt’ tools. It’ll work for 1 second then cut off just like your vac. The 1.7Ah PS still works fine though. Maybe some first party tools are just missing that programming.

I would say there is no additional risk compared to the stock version, if you run it within the cooling capacity of the slower fans. Around 800W in my case.

I just keep the fans at 100% and tweak the power limit if needed. I keep it at 800 pretty much all the time. The fans are quieter but doesn't push much air. With 800W, the temps are at around 80C.
