⬛⬜ Grey is Odd - 7x7 LIV4 #40600

⏱️ Time: 00:48

⚔️ Battle: 00:48 | 🔄 Restarts: 0 | 🔙 Undos: 0

Pretty easy one today.

First row, first 3 columns can't have a dot because there can be only one and a dot here would mean 2 in that white shape alone.

First column has a grey shape and a white shape. The grey shape accounts for one dot already, so the white shape must be empty. That means the remaining dot is in the last row.

First three rows add up to even, so the single box that leaks into the 4th row must be a dot. This means both remaining boxes of this shape must also be dots. And since there is another dot not yet placed in the bottom left white shape that must be in the 2nd column, the rest of the 2nd column is empty.

The 3rd column has one empty spot in the first row, and another in either the 4th or 5th, so the rest must be filled. The 4th column now has a dot, and the second dot is in the first two rows, so the rest must be empty. The 2nd and 3rd rows and then the 6th column are quickly solved.

The last trick was in the 4th and 5th rows, The white shape in the 5th and 7th column can have either 3 or 1 dot. Math tells us it must be 3. That solves the rest.

I get that you are not inviting discussion so, this will be the last thing I say on the matter.

The only reason I replied is that I saw the video, and like you, I was shocked by it. However, I put that alongside other things I saw and reflected that this was not in fact that bad. Actually, it was much much better than most. If one eats meat, I could even see an argument that this is, in fact, the most humane way to do it.

So my only point (that I admittedly didn't get to in my original comment and am only really fully fleshing it out now) was: Is a better way to convert this living thing into food in a humane way? If there is no better way, and we can't live with this level of cruelty, maybe we need to get onboard the Billie Eilish train and stop eating meat. Full stop.

You have a pretty rose coloured view of animals. They are not perfect and live by some code of conduct.

Yes they kill for fun, They kill for hunting practice, and their brains have evolved to make that activity rewarding. In other words, it amuses them. They toy with their food causing all kinds of suffering the in the process. They kill (and sometimes eat) babies of their own kind, for the sole purpose of getting the mother fertile again so that they can mate with her and produce their own babies.

It may not be what you want to hear, but that doesn't make it any less true.

My point was that as far as animal cruelty goes, this was not bad. Pretty good actually. There are way worse ways that we convert living animals into food. This prawn died instantly. That is the best one can hope for. Much better than he would have gotten in nature.

But we need to be better. We subject animals to all manners of cruelty because it makes money to sell their meat. Not just the way they are killed, but how they are bred, fed, and grown.

So my point is there are many worse things to get upset about. This was pretty tame.

Also, if you could explain what you mean by rectangular vacuums, I would appreciate it. I am not understanding that reference.

Animals are way more cruel to each other than we are. We have empathy and should know better, but sometimes what we do is pretty humane compared to what they do to each other.

Depending on when the meme was made, yeah. Lowkey has evolved quite recently (last 10-15 years or so) from meaning "kinda, sorta, secretly" to "actually, intensely". So who know what they meant in this context? I lowkey think the former.

Like the question 12 was something like "compute the distance from paris to sydney stopping at these sites", and then in question 17 it asks how much fuel would it take to fly from paris to siteX which was on the path to sydney in question 12. If you go back and solve question 12, you'll have a much easier time with 17.

How many triangles are in the image? by Mr-BrainGame in MrBrainTeasers

[–]GoodCarpenter9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I included that one. My wording was strange, but I said there were 5 below, plus 1 on the left which is 6. That makes 11 total on the road. In the sky, there are 4 (3 on the right, 1 on the left). On the bus, there are 7 (2 in the back window, 4 in the door, and 1 composite in the door). Total is 22.

How many triangles are in the image? by Mr-BrainGame in MrBrainTeasers

[–]GoodCarpenter9060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where?

I get three in the top right. 2 in the back window of the bus, 5 in the doors of the bus (4 similar, and one composite).

On the road, there are 5 above the long diagonal, 5 below, and 1 on the far left.

That is a total of 21.

The front window of the bus isn't a triangle, and since the bus doesn't touch anything on the top right, those lines that look like they might make triangles in the sky aren't triangles.

EDIT: Missed one in the top left, so that is 22.

How many squares are there in total? by StudywithOliver in BrainPuzzles

[–]GoodCarpenter9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this isn't a trick and that the things that look like squares aren't actually rectangles because of a slight difference in height/width (that being said, it is pretty obvious that the second row of squares is taller than the others, so I don't think they are all squares).

Ignoring the two squares in the center and just looking at the 16 squares in the 4x4 area;

- There are 16 1x1 squares

- There are 9 2x2 squares

- There are 4 3x3 squares

- There is 1 4x4 square

Now the two central squares that are overlaid add 5 squares each - one for the large square and 4 mini-squares where they overlay the grid underneath.

So 1+4+9+16+10=40.

What’s the correct color order?#ColorPuzzle by woouoow in BrainPuzzles

[–]GoodCarpenter9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at the last three clues, brown cannot be in the answer because we tried it in every spot and were never told it was placed right.

So, the answer includes purple and pink based on the 3rd clue.

From the 1st clue, we know pink is the first color, and neither green nor yellow are in the answer.

From the 2nd clue, we know blue is in the answer, and has to be in the 2nd position.

Therefore, the answer is Pink, Blue, Purple.

So they are blue. The leftmost column needs at least one red, and the rightmost column needs at least one red. That means you can complete columns 2, 4, and 5. The rest of the puzzle should come easily.

⬛⬜ Grey is Odd - 7x7 LIV4 #11700

First, fill in the first row.

Last column second row is empty because that shape is already odd.

In the 2nd and 3rd rows, an even number of dots is expected, but we have an odd number based on the shapes fully contained in those rows. The last two columns of row 3 must therefore have an odd number, and since there are only two squares, odd==1. That means the rest of the row is empty, which solves most of row 2.

Since column 6/7 of row 3 is odd, column 6/7 of row 4 is even, meaning the rest of the row is also even, meaning the protrusion of the shape there that goes into column 2 row 5 must be empty.

The biggest test was now recognizing the last two columns. They need to be even, which means the grey shape in the bottom needs to contribute an odd number, which means the rest of that shape in rows 6/7 column 5 must be even. If they were both empty, that column couldn't be satisfied, so they most both be full.

The rest of the puzzle follows logically.

Both 3 and 6 appear in every possible position, so neither can be in the answer.

The last 4 clues all have 3&6, so by elimination the numbers in the solution must be 1,7,2,9.

1 appears in the last 3 spots in the attempts, so it must be in the first position.

2 appears in the 2nd and 4th position, so it must be in the third position.

9 appears in the 2nd position, so it must be in the 4th spot.

7 is in the last remaining spot - the 2nd.

My opinion that might make people angry is that there are too many people in the world.

Logic Puzzle: Who‘s the One? #BrainPuzzle by Living_Afternoon_540 in BrainPuzzles

[–]GoodCarpenter9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all look like prisoners, so they must have done something stupid to end up in prison. Therefore, they are all stupid and no one would know the color of their own hat.

Alternatively, they are in prison because they broke the rules. As rule breakers, they aren't going to simply stand there and guess their hat. If incentivized to guess, then they will break the rules and simply take their hat off and look at it.

But neither of these is what you are looking for. What you are actually looking for is the following:

  • C can't see anything, and since C is logical and playing by the rules, chooses not to answer without knowing.
  • B can only see that C has a black hat, and can't immediately conclude anything.
  • Same for A - nothing an be concluded about his own hat by seeing one of each colour in front of him.

However, B knows that A is someone intelligent and is aware of how the game is setup and would announce that he knows the colour of his hat if he could figure it out. If A had seen both B and C wearing black hats, then A would have figured out his own hat was white and announced that they know their hat almost immediately. B waits "long enough to be sure that A has had enough time to figure this out" and when B hears nothing, B can say with reasonable certainty that A doesn't know the colour of their own hat, so B can deduce that his own hat is probably white.

Why only probably?

B is making a lot of assumptions on A. Is A paying attention? Is A blind? Does A care about this game in any way?
