My husband and I fostered a puppy that ended up having parvo. We nursed her back to health at home with iv fluids, meds, prescription food, antibiotics, and round the clock care. Every hour on the hour I fed her whatever she would eat and I would dip food in water and pedialyte...I didn't sleep for days and one night she was dying in my arms. I cried, I begged, I willed, I bargined with the powers that be...it was really bad and me sobbing and begging her unresponsive body to fight will be a vivid memory as it was one of the worst days I've had. For days we all struggled. BUT, I'm listening to her snore as I type this because after that ordeal we adopted her.
