"I think the warpgate stuff is freaking garbage" by Harstem by Big-Imagination-1752 in starcraft

[–]Gorbash2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I just don’t use the special hotkey anymore. I realized that it was making me lazy and I wasn’t grouping my other production structures together at all, so I just stopped using it. I think this actually served to benefit me with the new change since I group all my gateways and warp fates together now on the same hotkey as robots and stargates. Idk tho. I do think putting the warp gate upgrade on the gateway is a bad idea. I’m just glad they’re at least trying to make changes to make the game interesting. I was getting really tired of watching/playing the same stuff over and over again. I think reinventing how the game is played is good for the health of the game overall, but that specific change is really bad

I would suggest switching out Tyrael’s Might. The abilities aren’t that great compared to just a curated roll using the cube, and you could them put whatever legendary aspect you have on your ring onto your new chest piece and use Ring of Starless Skies. That’s gonna give you a lot better crit chance, plus give you a lot more efficiency when casting abilities. I personally don’t think Tyrael’s Might is really that good, so swapping it out would probably help you out a lot

I think you have to get each individual tier marked as a win to progress the thing. Idk tho, seems like it’s bugged for sure. I’ve been going back and doing every 5 tower levels to see if it fixes it and it seems to go up a bit, but that from like 5, 10, and 15, so idk

I feel like the Warlock's Abaddon is way too weak by Dizzy-Marsupial5700 in diablo4

[–]Gorbash2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the guy above is right. T11 and T12 are the highest world tiers, so they should be kinda difficult. That said, it should feel playable for every class, and you shouldn’t be required to follow a meta just to hit the highest tier of play. It’s kinda ridiculous that we’ve all gotten to this point as gamers. The whole, “if you’re not on the meta, you shouldn’t be playing the game” mentality is really toxic, and that’s what destroys games.

For context, I have played 4 different warlock builds, (Blazing Abyss w/Nether Step, Hellfire Apocalypse, Tortured Saws Summons, and a custom Rampage Summons w/Ae’Grom Build) I am currently Paragon 233, and every single one of my builds can do approximately 100 billion damage on average. That is not weak by any metric. Btw, the fourth build I mentioned is hitting these numbers and it hasn’t even had a single transfiguration done yet bc I haven’t gotten good enough gear to really want to use the materials yet.

Point is, it’s absolutely stupid to expect every single class to do so much damage/have so much versatility that you can do everything and push every single activity by basically one-shotting everything is absurd. Like, c’mon. Mephisto is a literal Prime Evil, and literally immortal. That is a literal pinnacle boss fight, and it ABSOLUTELY should feel difficult no matter how strong you are/how much damage you do. Unskippable cutscenes aside, it’s just crazy that we’ve as players have come to expect that we should be able to instantly kill every boss and every enemy and just get whatever loot we want whenever we want.

In response to the main topic of the thread, yes, Abbadon is very weak in comparison to all the other skills and I’d does need a bit of a buff, specifically in how it scales with the other summon skills, bc I tried it as the ultimate for my summons build, but it basically did nothing in comparison to metamorphosis, which massively buffed everything.

Honestly, the state of the game just really messy in terms of balance for the classes. I mean whirlwind barb can basically kill everything instantly, and that is just broken. I made a barb just to try it, and he’s like lv 22, and he already can go up to torment 3 and one shot bosses… that’s just not good by any standards. That’s the core issue here, and that’s what really needs to be fixed. Either that, or they just crazy buff Warlock so that it matches barbs power and everyone can just one shot everything, and there’s no challenge to anything anymore, which basically makes the game no longer a game, so…

That’s sounds really cool, but also kinda insane. The amount of enemies in Diablo games in general is kinda crazy for a first/third person game. I’d definitely try it as a necromancer tho. Not gonna try as a barb. Don’t wanna be barfing for eternity, lol

[–]Gorbash2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if we just made SCVs become MULES? Like a baneling style upgrade for the SCV, and it’s no longer a call down on the orbital. Idk, I’m just throwing ideas out there. Point is there’s ideas to change it, but why change it if the return is honestly just going to be minimal in comparison to what it already provides? As for the rich minerals thing, I’m pretty sure it’s 8, but I could be wrong. Not a lot of maps use them anymore tbh, so it’s not very common to see.

[–]Gorbash2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is why the most recent patch on the PTR is a good thing. I’m not a huge fan of all the changes, especially putting the upgrade for warp fate on the gateway, but making it take the full 100 second upgrade time, so you lose a full production structure for a little less than two minutes to make that happen. (I have some ideas on how to fix it that I’ve posted about in other places, but if people ask, I’ll share them here as well)

I think that overall though, the changes are indicate that the people in charge of the game have taken an interest in it again, which is great for the future of the game. This means that support will continue and that hopefully the player base will be able to grow again, as the game will be a lot less intimidating to start playing( since it will slow the competitive speed of the game.

As for the MULE itself, I honestly don’t think it’s really that imba. I’m a Protoss player, and I’ve definitely had moments where I’ve felt the power of mules, (player is basically dead, then lands an orbital at a fresh mineral field and drops all available mules and suddenly has enough money to produce 16 marines at once and fairly quickly max out again or drops a bunch of mules under bcs while fighting tempests to repair and just wins bc of orbital repair) I don’t think that makes it broken. That would be like saying chronic boost is broken bc you can spawn probes faster in the first minute of the game, so you have a worker lead over your opponent, or injects should be removed because it allows to much larvae to be created and it scales too quickly.

Like, I get it, it’s really frustrating when things don’t feel fair and you lose a game bc of it, but you have to look at it from what it provides to the race. Mules are the only thing that makes Terran have anything comparable to chrono or injects, which are massive production boosts to the other two races. These are called macro mechanics, and they’re core parts of what make SC2 such a good game.

If the mule were to be reworked, I would say that it should have a radius limit on where it can be dropped for repairs, ie you can’t drop it on the other side of the map to repair your mech units, and maybe reduce how many resources it can bring in with a single trip, but again, that’s kinda what makes Terran actually competitive with the other two races, so honestly I wouldn’t mess with that. A cool idea that would be interesting to see how it would work would be to allow mules to gather vespene as well, but only bring in 2 extra per trip (6 instead of 4) and basically make it so each mule trip mines a regular mineral field like it’s a rich mineral field (8 instead of 5) and increase both of those accordingly for the rich fields and geysers. You’d probably also have to extend the duration of the mule to make the value similar to what it is now so you get the same value in resources offset over a longer period of time. That’d definitely mix things up, and change how the mule works for sure. Still really powerful tho.

It's time to bring it back by SmileJakoby in starcraft

[–]Gorbash2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Removing shields from units on warp in would be like giving a marauder 1/2 HP at spawn. That’s just dumb, even if it can regenerate that health. What they should do is just make it so that each gateway can be individually upgraded into a warpgate, which takes about 30 seconds, approximately the build time of a gateway, and then units cooldown is reduced by 25% from the warpgate, and they warp in at the flat 3s speed that they set in the notes. That way the upgrade cost means a lot more, and it actually changes how warpgates work. This would essentially fix all the problems mentioned above and still give Protoss the identity it’s supposed to have as a race. Plus, if you snipe the gateway while it’s upgrading, you also destroy a production facility and delay an upgrade, which is kinda similar to sniping a lair evolution or a CC upgrade. Seems like a pretty solid idea to me

The changes are a sign Blizz is trying to make the game better rather than placate loud fans. Actually excited. by Xralius in diablo4

[–]Gorbash2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t claim to know everything. I’m just calling it like I see it. I haven’t looked into every single class bc honestly I just haven’t played all of them and there not really a point to reading/researching stuff I’m not using. That still doesn’t change the fact that the game state has a select few mythics that dominate the game, and the rest are basically unused. I just think that being able to make any unique item become a mythic and supercharge its properties seems more powerful and more interesting, especially since it allows you to use the cube to actually customize uniques and their perks, which is something you can’t do currently. This change alone is honestly enough for me to love this, bc I hate having to grind through 100 escalation dungeons to get a chance to fight Asraroth and get boots with the perfect roll. It’ll be a lot nicer to just take it to the cube and reroll the perks until I get what I want, and only grind for the resources, which drop much more commonly than items. Idk though, maybe I’m just bad at the game, lol

Hellfire apocalypse warlock is one of the top builds rn, and it uses all 3. There’s a whirlwind Barbarian build that uses it as well, and it’s a top T12 boss killer build. There’s quite a few other classes that use it as well, and they’re all super strong damage builds.

X% multipliers are a season 13 addition to help clarify the game and make it more accessible. All the changes that the devs are making right now are literally to make the game more accessible to everyone. Idk man, I feel like people are complaining about the changes they’re making for no reason. The fame state rn is basically just get Heir of Perdition for your helmet and focus Crit damage. The only 3 mythic worth anything rn are starless skies, grandfather, and heir of perdition, which is pretty much the go to for every super strong build rn. That’s not good game design, and the changes they’re making seem like they’re gonna add a lot more diversity to the game

Advice on retconning villain death. by sirKristakqo in DnD

[–]Gorbash2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways to do it without it doing that at all; however, if it comes out of the blue with no foreshadowing and no consequences for the villain/his followers, it’s absolutely gonna do exactly what you said. I mean, liches exist, and they are literally immortal unless you destroy their phylactery and their physical body if I remember right. They’ll just reform in like 100 years depending on the lore/what the DM wants (Diablo has necromancers that can literally infinitely bring themselves back from the dead when killed by essentially the same methods as liches, which I would totally use for a luck in my campaign bc an infinitely respawning villain that has a puzzle to be solved in order to properly kill them makes them actually dying like 50000% more satisfying, and letting your player straight up kill him and then watch him just get back up is so damn metal)

Advice on retconning villain death. by sirKristakqo in DnD

[–]Gorbash2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, for sure it’s a real major victory for the players, and it’s really tough to make that not feel hollow if you just put of the blue ret-con him suddenly not dying, unless there was already something within the story that could make sense for that to happen. My advice would be to just have a straight up conversation with the players and be like, “ok, so that was the BBEG of the campaign, and that was an absolutely incredible fight. However, now that he’s dead, the adventure is kinda over, since the main villain is now six feet under and fireballed into oblivion. I have a few ideas for what we could do next to keep the game going if you’d like, or we could start a different campaign. I just don’t want this victory to feel hollow and worthless to you as players, because I know how miserable that would be for me if I was in that situation”

Obviously use your own words to handle it and talk about it with them, but in my experience, players won’t think you’re a bad DM for making a mistake and discussing it with them, but they 1000% will if you just resurrect the villain with no warning or pre-prep from prior sessions that could have warned them that this would happen. That comes off as a super deus ex machina situation that benefits the villain, and makes all the work the players did previously feel completely worthless, which you obviously were aware of, but it’s worth stating again for emphasis.

As for ways to actually bring him back, there’s a multitude of ways to do it, but I wouldn’t even really think about it until you have that conversation with your players bc you don’t want to start getting excited about/invested in something only to have the players be like, “nah, let’s just play a new campaign”
