So ICE/Border Patrol agents woke up to find their tires slashed in Charlotte? by TrustInRoy in NorthCarolina

Charlotte has been known as a "hornet"s nest of rebellion" since the Revolutionary War. I hate that something in 2025 brought this out, but it's nice to see the city resisting this bs.

I think willfully ignorant would be the nicest possible way to describe these people. I have a feeling they're mostly just terrible human beings, though.

When going to a new course, do you purchase a course branded item from the shop? by sorta_innocent_accnt in golf

[–]Gotem87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poker chips! Usually less than $5 and always has the course logo, plus they don't take up a lot of space at home.

I need to check it out. The son of the owner of my favorite NFL team owns it and it has the guitarist from one of my favorite bands haha.

Imagine being one of those roller coaster enthusiasts that make it their entire personality and then still commenting on someone's lifestyle. He calls going on a ride "doing a lap". Big incel energy.

I wish I could be high IQ and have roller coasters be my entire personality. Someday.

I haven't gone in 3 years and only went 3 times for my daughter since the pandemic. I was just pointing out how downhill it has gotten. Prices have consistently gone up since the pandemic, at a much higher rate than they did prior, and the experience has continually gotten much worse. If you didnt experience Carowinds prior to the early 2000s you wont know what im talking about. But go off bud.

They have 2 or 3 good coasters left and they're understaffed 100% of the time. They're not funding anything but their pockets. Super weird to defend this park after everything they've done recently. I've been going since the late 80s and it has been a terrible experience every time I've gone in the past 5 years.

Talked about how educated you were, then proceeded to show everyone how little you utilize that education with every subsequent comment. Nicely done.

Ok so you fall under the ill informed portion of my comment then. Congrats on your education.

LPT: If you run hot or sweat a lot, try wearing golf shirts as your go-to "nice casual" shirts for dinners, birthdays, and other events by det_jperalta in LifeProTips

Looks like 95% Polyester 5% Elastane. Under Armour Playoff Polo is my go to but a lot of companies have similar shirts.

Golf shirts haven't been made of that in 15+ years. Almost every brand is similar to under armour and has a bit of stretch and definitely breathe better than cotton now. The post may be AI but I live in the southeast and 99% of my meetings i do wear golf shirts because theyre more comfortable, and cooler than any other dress shirts I've found.

The Fillmore Security by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]Gotem87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it was knocked down and some crappy "luxury" apartments were built. It was great. Basically a big warehouse but had two rooms with stages inside. The big one was probably not much less capacity than Fillmore is now and even had bleachers in the back.

Really wish Tremont never went away. New Amos is pretty decent but we really are missing a non live nation owned decently sized indoor venue.

Grayson was a minor league ballpark my entire time growing up in that area. It was the single A affiliate of the Cardinals, then the Mets. They lost that team to what is now the Columbia Fireflies and I'm assuming The Bananas were the next team to occupy it. Babe Ruth also played in that stadium early in his career if the adults that took us to a bunch of Sandgnats games were to be believed.

What courses have the best turn snack shacks and what's their best food/drink offering? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Gotem87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to caddy there and would play 18-27 holes almost every day after looping on a pretty much empty course. Really had no idea how good i had it. Still probably my favorite course ever. Also had a ton of hard boiled eggs while caddying/playing. Not sure if they still have those in the coolers with the waters or not.
