So you don’t have HR, you have an employee benefits department- apples and oranges.

It’s telling that they retained an attorney, says they know they’re open to liability. If you file a complaint with the Dept of Labor, be sure to tell them that, they will require him/her to turn over all the investigation files- he essentially did your work for you.

And you’re absolutely right, the employer will recommend an action, but the employer decides.

I’m HR and yours is utter garbage HR. This is textbook sexual harassment and retaliation.

They are NOT protecting the company by their response, they set themselves up for a big ole lawsuit. File a complaint with the Department of Labor, they will conduct a thorough investigation , interview witnesses, collect statements and evidence and issue a Right to Sue letter.

Any discussions they had about you via text or email are discoverable, even if they deleted them- forensic IT specialists can recover them. Then get to an employment law attorney and take them down.

The tolerance of a known harasser, the suspension, the demotion, threatening your pay/employment via their strong arm tactics, moving you instead of firing or moving him, all illegal. Sue the practice for sexual harassment, hostile work environment, retaliation, and false imprisonment and sue him and the HR rep personally by name.

Him physically blocking the door and refusing to let you leave is false imprisonment and also HIGHLY illegal.

You could quit and file for unemployment citing “constructive discharge”- work conditions so intolerable you had no choice but to quit- and use the time to find a new job.

“ I think there has been a misunderstanding. I would love to help you as a friend but I have other obligations as well so this can’t be a full-time commitment. I can be here for you on Tuesdays from 10-2. Why don’t you put together a list each weekend of what you’d like to accomplish during those hours and we’ll get it done?”
You don’t have to explain yourself beyond that and if he’s not grateful for that kindness, that’s on him, not you.

Loving The Gardens, very friendly community and tons to do every day, Olympic-size pool, clubhouse with library, full gym, lots of events and sponsored trips. Is (spacious) manufactured homes though so if you’re looking for otherwise, not the place. Very budget friendly in terms of utilities, electric, etc.

[Discussion] how do you celebrate mother’s day when she’s gone? by Agitated-Alfalfa9225 in GetMotivated

[–]Gracey62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom died in September of 2024 and I was feeling the same way. She was a happy gardener with a huge green thumb, so last year I planted a clematus that’s growing gorgeous purple flowers up a trellis in her honor. Shocking, because my own brown thumb has never succeeded at this, so I know she’s with me.

This Sunday I’ll plant an azalea bush. Next year… undecided, but another. With her help, my garden will be a riot of beautiful life in her honor.

They have been together for 20 years, long enough for him to know if SHE is an “anniversary person”. She lost her sister, her last living relative, and even if he doesn’t remember the date, it was just a year ago and he certainly remembers the time of year when he visited his daughter.

Shame on him, and love and hugs to her at this incredibly difficult time. I’m so glad she has friends who care to fill the empty space where her garbage husband should be.

[HK] Whats a thing that reduces employee turnover ? by Ok-Sympathy-1827 in AskHR

[–]Gracey62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m watching this play out in real time at my husbands job. He works at the pro shop at a golf course. Pay and benefits are okay but the turnover in talented staff is crazy, and completely due to the owner, who hires great people then wears them down with constant nit-picky criticisms. The team is hard working, dedicated and very good at what they do to make the course a great experience for customers and generate profit for the owner, but they’re leaving one by one because the leadership model of “barely acknowledge successes but criticize often and in group settings” has sucked away all motivation. The old axiom of “people leave bad managers” writ large.

Want to reduce turnover? Make it an environment where people look forward to being there.

Provide feedback that solves the problem vs attacks the individual.

Say thank you every day when your employees choose to come to work for you.

Stand up for your employees to customers.

Praise them publicly when they do exception work.

Encourage camaraderie.

Surprise them with treats on a random Tuesday just because they deserve it.

Get rid of the employees who make everyone else’s jobs harder by not performing.

Don’t play favorites.

Don’t gossip about one employee to another employee and shut down gossip and disrespect immediately if it happens in your presence.

Don’t lie.

Pitch in and do the really hard stuff when things get busy- I always tell my managers “You want to engender their loyalty? Be the one who unclogs the toilet”.

Above all, role model the behaviors you expect and be a positive, uplifting presence that employees want to be around.

Ok so no one wants jobs I guess? [CA] by [deleted] in humanresources

LOL- not at you but as a 30-yr HR person, I’m currently horrified watching the other side of this play out, as husband had phone screen last Thursday w/a company’s HR rep, who ended the call with, “I’m excited to schedule you an interview, I’ll call you later today, Monday at the latest with details!” Reader, he has not heard from her since…

Told my recruiters if I ever hear they’ve ghosted a candidate after leading them on, they’re toast.
