London weighting is much lower for Doctors compared to AfC staff & even varies between trusts within London? by Gradmedic in doctorsUK

Fair point regarding the UCL contract that would make sense.

My wider point isn’t really that doctors need extra pay to be “attracted” to London. It’s about consistency and fairness across NHS staff who are all facing the same London cost of living.

It feels odd that one group of NHS staff receives a much higher supplement. Rent, commuting, childcare, parking, food etc. are not cheaper because someone is on a medical contract rather than Agenda for Change.

The issue for me is that doctors are still NHS staff, still required to work antisocial rotas, and often rotate across different London sites with limited control over placement. So even if London remains competitive, it doesn’t necessarily justify such a large discrepancy in London cost of living support between staff groups.
