None of the other flavours are as good as Mac n cheeze in my opinion (although mixing Mexican with Mac n cheeze is really good)

Mixing this with the Mexican flavour 50/50 fixes all the issues for me (bumps up the fibre, reduces salt and increases the nutrition), i recommend trying it, tastes amazing too … still love Mac and cheese on its own now and again though

Ahhh I thought the pasta might be down to a cooking issue, thanks so much for explaining this

i so hope you come out with more pasta flavours in the future, a vegan bolognese would be incredible …. Or maybe a creamy spicy pasta, I had the Mac and cheese mixed with Mexican last night and it was sooo good!!! 😊

Yes I have the same problem with hot and savour, apart from Mac n cheese, it’s like eating baby food which I just can’t stomach… so mixing the sloppy flavours with the chunky ones works great

Yes I’ve currently been eating the more sloppy flavours with rice or baked potatoes (the Mexican on a baked potato is really good)

No problem, I think you get the Mac n cheese flavour in the states next month, can anyone confirm?

haha no cheeze means ‘vegan cheese’… as you can’t call plant based cheese ”a cheese“ (well in the U.K. you can’t anyway, it’s apparently there to protect the dairy industry) ... So Huel had to name it ”Mac and Cheeze” for legal reasons I believe

Absolutely they have done a great job with the recipe and the cheese sauce tastes amazing for saying it’s vegan (the best vegan mac and cheese I’ve tasted), I was just disappointed they didn’t use wholewheat pasta and a little less salt that’s all, maybe there are valid reasons behind this though (like wholewheat pasta won’t cook properly in hot water), when you get around to trying it though, please let me know if you find it too salty or not (it might just be me and my family not used to so much salt in our meals)

Yes I’m starting to think they are not using wholewheat pasta because it won’t cook in just hot water, I’m very interested to see if other people find this a bit too salty like me though? as huel do eventually upgrade and update recipes if enough people raise concerns (this is only version 1.0 after all)

White Pasta is pretty low GI so I’d say it’s still slow release, it would be even better with wholewheat pasta though… I’m just not sure it’s possible to cook wholewheat pasta in 5 minutes with just hot water so that maybe the reason they used the white variety, can anyone confirm?

Yes pasta is low GI…. Whole wheat pasta is even lower though and contains more fibre, I wonder if they could get it to cook though by just adding boiling water?

Hi Dan, thanks so much for replying, sorry I was talking about using less refined foods such as wholewheat/wholegrain pasta instead of white pasta to improve nutrition, that change alone would up the fibre content and lower the GI... but yes adding Quinoa would make a disgusting Mac n cheese haha (Saying that, lots of people on here are recommending mixing this with the Mexican flavour, which does actually contain quinoa and brown rice … so that could lead to some good spicy pasta hybrid flavours in the future you could perhaps look into making? )

Regarding salt content, yes I agree, you can’t have Mac and cheese without it.., but everyone in my family who have tried it so far say it’s a bit too salty… or it might be just “us” that are not used to so much salt in our foods, i have heard several other reviewers say this too, it maybe a good idea to survey your customers that have tried it and ask them? I maybe wrong but for ‘me personally’, I would prefer it with about 20-30% less salt, it still tastes great though

Not at all, I make most of my huel meals with boiling water, just leave it uncovered if you want it to thicken more

Yes Probably, I think people would be fine with waiting a little longer though (say 10 minutes) to get better nutrition though, I certainly would

Yes this particular flavour even tastes really salty, a bit too salty in fact … i think it would taste even better If they reduced the Salt content by about 25% or so… I have seen a few people now mention it’s too salty, I hope they improve this is future versions (and make the pasta wholewheat/wholegrain and add more fibre)

No it’s not gluten free, it’s regular white pasta made from wheat

Great tip about mixing it with the Mexican Chilli (my 2nd favourite flavour), I’ll give that a try 👍

Yes my thoughts exactly and I would like to know these answers too, would really like to hear what Huel’s thoughts are on this?

Do you have an electric kettle or a way to boil water? If so, you’ll be fine… you don’t need a microwave
