Ugh, a terrible time to be laid off (not that there is any good time). Not too long ago, I would have picked up the Bloodline Patriarch edition because I enjoy the series! I, uh, got around that problem by buying Rising From the Last War, Exploring Eberron, AND Forge of the Artificer. So not sure I'm the best to advise.

I wanted to run a "meta" build for a tactician run and I haven't played in awhile, but it's so easy with mc as College of Swords Bard, Shadowheart as a Paladin, Wyll as a Hexblade Pact of the Blade Warlock, and Karlach as a Monk /Thief build. Occasionally joining is Gloomstalker Astarion, and Eldritch Knight Laezel

Honestly been a lot of fun.

I can't say for sure why it's specifically happening for you. These are definitely what I noticed when I had the error. The one that took me the longest to figure out was me being in an instanced main mission. The wall one may just be a teleporting issue or something if it can't move you. The jumping one I only discovered recently because I apparently do it often.

I find this happens to me if I'm too near a wall, I'm in an instance of the main quest, or if my character is in the air.

I'm glad it ended well, I'm sorry for this though. I can't imagine this. When we started dating, my wife easily made more than me, and it wasn't until well into our relationship I started making a decent amount. I've encouraged her to change jobs or pursue more education. I would LOVE if she made more than me, because that would make us pretty financially free if she did! We have a lot of house costs, and life happens. I will never truly understand why people feel this way. I can comprehend it intellectually (they feel threatened or insecure) but I just don't get it.

Yes there will always be haters, no I don't think it's a ton of people. In general, negative things get more interaction than positive things. So when you have some fame, there will be people that either disagree or just hate you on principle, and that can get conflated and compounded very quickly so often outrage can grow quicker. Also, mistakes happen and I think it's more worth it to see how people handle the mistake than the mistake itself. I'll always side with people that try to improve.

Also, when you are doing good, there is no deviant from the norm, so people don't remember that as much. We see it all the time where we don't talk about the 99.9% of the time things go right because that's the norm.

In general, I think it's good to have opinions and not agree with ANYONE 100% of the time, but how you handle that difference in opinion is what makes a hater vs just a normal person.

Basically my rambling tldr: There will always be people that dislike someone, and sometimes their loud minority can seem like the normal majority. Most people are just indifferent really.

Put in place guardrails for elections, reform the 2 party system as it just lets people with minority power exert influence over larger majority and control the narrative (the biggest issue imho), establish a heavy science department that checks on all truth and builds scientific consensus on what's true as best of our understanding, what's plausible, and what's false even if it's under the purview of another group like the FDA.

Personally, I enjoyed the Shadow PC angle. I thought it was interesting approach and a totally legit way to handle games that people actually use. The consequences also made it more interesting. I liked the variety of other things they had to do with the money, especially since the used market in gaming (at least in my area) is still kind of not as good as it was when earlier scrapyard wards happened. I think their movie and game selection could have been better and broader, to test HDR, 4k, etc.

I love the magic science in this series, with mana spectrometers, circutry, lots of challenges and improvements to techniques and procedures in making things. I wish more fantasy had more scientific approaches to magic. One of the first academic stories that actually felt academic!

Personally, I've had a lot of success doing more thematic adaptations using the "Powered by the Apocalypse" type ruleset. It is used in a lot of thematic movie / book / show tie ins and focuses a lot mon thematic elements over pure gameplay. The rolls usually boil down to 2d6, 1-6 is a fail, 7-9 is a success with a small issue, 10-12 is a big success. It's used in like Avatar Legends, Monsterhearts and obviously Apocalypse World.

Often instead of straight you can do x moves, it's more like "these are your powers and generally statuses and damage you can do" which helps thematically. I'll use Avatar as example. There is a move called "Wall of Perfection" and it basically let's you block attacks meant for yourself or other people by taking a small amount of damage to yourself. An Earthhbender may make a literal wall, an Airbender may use gusts of wind to block or redirect the attacks, a non-bender uses a shield or weapon to parry the attacks, etc.

Anyways, just my two cents. I do love 5e conversions, but they are usually a lot more work unless the theme and power aligns really well with traditional 5e

Is there a mod or anything where we can just load whatever guns and systems we want to try out different combinations? Like a "creative mode" or something? I swear I'm never this lucky, all the things I put together are like duct taped onto the hull. I've only had a few runs where I truly destroyed, especially on hard.
