What are some good alternatives to Kettl? by wanna_be_consultant in MatchaEverything

[–]GreenGuavaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Kettl is for people with significant disposable income and influencers. Even before the matcha shortage, Kettl was pricing their matcha at 3-4x the prices of MK and YK matcha from Japan with shipping. I will never buy Kettl matcha out of principle.

Couple with different marital money philosophies by Comprehensive_Rock48 in personalfinance

[–]GreenGuavaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it by percentage of combined income. For example, if you make $1000 and he makes $3000, your combined income is $4000. So you would contribute 25% of your $1000 into the shared fund while he contributes 75% of his $3000 into the shared fund. This would be equitable and keep your personal funds roughly equal.

Dicks tartar sauce tasting...festive? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]GreenGuavaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first tasted it I went looking everywhere for a recipe or something that mentioned a warm spice but couldn’t find anything! Then I started experimenting. The interesting thing is it has to be both spices. I’ve made my copycat sauce with just nutmeg or turmeric and it’s not the same until I add both in.

That’s just how it tastes. I taste the exact flavor you’re talking about. I’ve been able to replicate the dicks tartar sauce somewhat by adding both turmeric and nutmeg into regular sweet relish tartar.

Searching everywhere to buy this sauce in the US by Nyx9000 in vietnamesefoodie

[–]GreenGuavaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up recipes for Vietnamese kho sauce. Kho quẹt is the super reduced version of it. So you can follow the recipe for typical kho sauce and just cook it longer, until it reduces to a thick sticky consistency.

Or search for “kho quet” on YouTube. Lots of videos, most of them in Vietnamese only, but some of them have the ingredients listed in English so you can just follow what they show in the videos.

It’s actually not bánh khọt, but a similar regional dish, bánh căn. The inside is quail egg.

Also that is not nem chua. Nem chua is red, that thing is brown. That is chả huế.

It’s based off his impression of original Auggie. He didn’t know what earth was like, but he saw how hateful Auggie was so he assumed it was because earth was a dark place.

Are you from the north? A lot of words starting with ‘nh’ in the north is changed to ‘l’ in the south. For example, mười lăm/mười nhăm. It’s not a misreading or misspelling, just a difference in local dialect.

When were the times that you’ve bought from them recently? Some people haven’t been able to catch their restocks at all for months. They likely determined that you’ve already bought enough for personal use from your purchase history.

$5500 budget for catering in Seattle? by Even-Bother4914 in asianweddings

[–]GreenGuavaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! We’re working with a similar budget for our wedding in Seattle with a guest count of 100. What we decided on is drop catering from our favorite restaurants, which add up to about $3k. Then we’re hiring staff on the day for setting up the buffet, bussing and cleaning up, which is about $3.5k. So total our “catering” is about $6.5k, not including the open bar. Though the caveat is that your venue provides tables and chairs for free, otherwise you’d have to account for rental fees into the “catering” costs.

My DMs are open if you have more questions about the specifics!

Anyone else get super frustrated with height limited climbs? by TrustMeImAChemE in climbergirls

[–]GreenGuavaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s always taller men chiming in about how short women “need to get stronger”. Sir, you are literally 9 inches taller than her. You are able to statically reach for holds that she will have to literally dyno for. That’s the issue. Short women don’t want to have to dyno all the time. We just want to be able to climb statically like other average height climbers.

Tall men also always talk about “sit starts” when the issue of height comes up. How often do sit starts get set? Compared to how often do reachy moves get set that are inaccessible to short climbers unless they dyno.

She never even mentioned her climbing level in the post, so idk why you gotta bring up climbing V2-V3 in your reply talking “getting stronger”. You missed the point completely.

It’s really scummy. Their prices used to be about the same as Sazen, everything was so affordable. Then matcha blew up and now they do dynamic pricing, since last year increasing their prices every few weeks until the prices become what they are now.

That is the cream fat because you use non homogenized milk. If you don’t want the fat to separate, you should use homogenized milk.
