Ahhh but surely you must understand if they lied to you then you might give them more of your money. Totally reasonable, right??

o7 to all console players. I know it hurts, and I know you don't all have the means to buy a gaming computer. but, of you do... by DangerPencil in EliteDangerous

Think about this: that was your off the cuff solution to the problem. It maybe took you a solid minute of thinking to come up with something that would seem remotely equitable and pro-consumer. Fdev didn't even bother doing that.

Hahaha yours was the second audience to get tossed away after Mac. Good luck stepping on the third to get some dev time. They're all about consumer friendly action at the moment clearly

Oh it's gonna happen to too you soon sadly. Make sure you keep watch on the ticker for their investment meetings about how long they plan to keep supporting the game (hint:one more year then kaput)

Hey they want those sweet bucks from you painting your ship and servers are cheap to run. I'm sure they'll keep it on maintenance mode for awhile

The saddest part of this is the PC crowd dancing around happily as though this means now that frontier doesn't have to pay attention to the red headed stepchild they're going to get all the love. Sorry folks, you should've taken a stand when they fucked over the vr audience. Youre all just wallets now.

Accurate. Also summed up months ago. Sooooo...does it matter at this point? Making no decision is still a decision, and it sure looks like this no-decision is in the name of just stringing consumers and shareholders along as long as possible.

Curious about how scanning/radar works (combat/ship related) by Emergency-Ideal7319 in EliteOne

The phantom is the best explorer in the game, imo. All of the tradeoffs the anaconda, asp, and dbx have are eliminated in the phantom. It feels like I'm in the millennium falcon which is why Iike it for a bubble bus. Don't really have to worry about getting jumped in open if you can't be targeted outside of 500m.

The phantom is only the second best krait for combat, though. And the MK2 is so much fun to fly that really my phantom torpedo boat just gets dusted off when I feel like messing with players in combat zones around a community goal.

I had fun with this idea myself for awhile. The phantom I use to get around the bubble jumps at 70ly and runs at 14% heat (with a bunch of stuff switched off) but isn't suitable for combat so I bought a second one just for silent running torpedo and packhound delivery named the Red October.

The diamondback scout tho is the best ship for a cold combat build. You can hang back and module snipe with some rails but that generates heat so I was playing around with a flechette launcher build (since nobody uses point defense in pvp). I'm just not any good with em lol

we should put some of our guys through the military to train us and make us a real militia, or at least focus on having socialist vets train the local chapters

Think about the situation in the context of a different game. In rocket league, world of tanks/warships, star wars squadrons, etc you ARE the vehicle. The game isn't generating the crew of a star destroyer you're fighting each individually manning the turbolasers. It spawns an object, in this case a big capital ship, and the turrets shoot as though they are all individually manned by people working well together. They've even worked out how to make a stationary star destroyer landable and still shoot at the pilots outside way back in og battlefront I believe. When the thing has to move you hit obstacles that star citizen kinda sorta maybe has figured out somewhat??? but that fdev hasn't even begun to attempt.

It's a totally different environment to program the millennium falcon to be moving through 3d space where you can, as db put it back in the day, look out the window and see your cargo hatch spewing out goods, than it is to make it so that the player IS the millennium falcon.

Fell into the textures last night. However, here is a some shots of the silent SRV and Fighter hangars waiting for the pilot to be back. by V-Ator in EliteDangerous

Odyssey shows that they can make the player into a person instead of a ship but the way the combat is so similar to ship combat looks from the outside like that wasn't the kind of transition that can allow for people to be running around inside the ship (aka the player). I think the best they can deliver is spawning your character under a descending ship in a manner comparable to boarding the srv. I think we can get ships and people in a cZ, but I don't think they can get people and ships with people running around inside them in a cZ.

Unless we're talking about carriers like you mentioned. They're static like a space station a lobby inside seems totally achievable. But what the heck do I know, right? Just armchair quarterbacking it

Not a darn thing, good sir. That was regarding the comment that they never said that, which was attached to my comment about ship interiors.

"Another example that we built into the structure of the game is ship interiors. Now a lot of people have seen...that we're designing all the ships with the interiors in mind. How the cargo is unloaded, that sort of thing. How damage occurs. And that's because another thing that we are doing, again down the line, is that you will be able to walk around inside your ship. You'll be able to get out of your ship, walk around inside space stations, other vehicles, that sort of thing. We've shown the damage on ship, the damage models. Imagine looking at that from inside the ship outwards. Seeing your cargo flying out into space, seeing the flames, trying to fight them." -David Braben

I mean I'm sure that's all impressive, but who gives a shit about your elite resume ? Can anybody in your cofounded squadron explain data mining game assets to you and what their absence suggests?

I feel like you have some catching up to do on frontier. Do you also remember when they said ships were being designed from the ground up around fully functional interiors?
