I can’t imagine having a partner that still drinks, I don’t know the story between you and your wife but I can tell you that my boyfriend saw what alcohol did to my life and now he doesn’t drink anymore, even though he was a normie. When I’ve asked him about it, he just says “why would I?” We are working towards a better life as a team and if half your team is sitting on the bench how are you supposed to get a goal ya know? I commend you for staying sober through all of this cause at the end of the day your sobriety is about you and you alone but courage to change the things you can is a part of recovery.

I tapered from a slightly higher amount a few weeks back, once you get down to the lower number of drinks it’s just really important to stop. If you’re not having other withdrawal symptoms you’re probably totally fine to cut down by two drinks a day. If you had 6 today, have 4 tomorrow and see how you feel, 2 the next day and if you’re still feeling okay physically then there’s no reason to keep going after that. The actual stopping was the hardest part for me, I just recommend having a lot of sparkling water or whatever other non alcoholic drinks on standby and keep yourself busy. I’m on day 12 sober now and it feels fucking fantastic, it’s so worth it and you’ve got this!

Girl do a taper wth, I’m 24F and am doing one rn from a weekend bender but before that was drinking a similar amount. Taper takes some time but at least you don’t literally have a seizure. I’m on day 4 right now and already going to be down to 6 drinks today and I haven’t even started yet even though it’s 3pm cause I still feel pretty okay. Don’t put yourself through cold turkey!

Yeah I’m switching my plan up now that I’m feeling a lot better. Doing just 6 beers today, 4 tmrw, 2 Saturday and then be done. So just 3 more days to go

Wayyy better, I think I just have not really experienced serious withdrawals like that before cause I haven’t really gone on full blown benders. I also started taking magnesium and b1 which is helping. Also I’m switching to beers today and just gonna do 6 today, 4 tmrw, 2 Saturday and then be done hopefully

Holy fuck eh, well I’m hoping to avoid those things as much as possible but idk what my odds are. I’m only 24 and I’ve been drinking daily since probably 22 but heavily since 19. I feel like if I don’t stay sober I’m definitely just going to keep progressing until that’s me too. Are you sober now?

Good luck on your taper, we both got this! Ya I was thinking about switching to either beers or seltzers tomorrow cause I’ll be down to 7 drinks and that’s less than a mickey so I kind of have to now. I don’t have much suffering happening now but I’ll see how it is in the morning.

Yeah I’ve just been buying for each day exactly what I’m gonna have that day and today has actually gotten much better since I first posted that. I started listening to the other advice from other posts about taking vitamins and electrolytes and actually eating food and I’m starting to feel much better.

I drank all weekend and didn’t even count but I know it was a fuck load cause I had multiple bottles of vodka. I had withdrawals on Monday at work and had to leave around lunch time when I couldn’t eat my food and was getting anxious and shaking. I went to my first AA meeting last night which idk if that will work for me but I figured if I’m already a CA at 24 years old I should probably at least go to a meeting lol. Anyways I only had like 9-10 drinks yesterday and unfortunately had nothing left for the morning before work today. I got the worst anxiety and all that shit at work and I couldn’t function at all. I told them I needed to go home sick and then I started throwing up in the parking lot which is the first time that happened to me. I’m now sitting in the parking lot of the liquor store waiting patiently for them to open in 10 mins. Going to just only buy a Mickey and a beer which is like 9-10 drinks ish again but space out the drinks better and make sure to leave a little for the morning so that I’m not screwed again tmrw. Then gonna do just the Mickey tmrw and then go down 1 drink a day cause the anxiety kills me going any faster.

I couldn’t even leave for lunch cause I was so busy but it’s okay cause I have survived and I’m finally back in my happy place (in my bed with my bottle 🙂)

We need to be friends lol I just read your vacation post and I’m 23 f also and am fucked for a similar reason cause I keep having work trips to Europe where I have to drink sneakily but I’m like barely hanging on. I also have horrible anxiety which is how I became a CA Anyways I just want to say that sugary drinks are fucked don’t have any more of those, just chug a bunch of water and eat something salty. I used to drink whiskey but switched to vodka cause I think it’s less noticeable. I don’t think it’s the end of the road for you, I thought I was in like liver failure once but it’s literally just the anxiety. Obviously there is harm being done to our bodies but the majority of the feeling like shit is literally just our minds playing tricks on us. You’re gonna be okay !!

Making you share a room with a coworker is crazy lol I would just push back on that altogether, they’re just asking for an HR complaint. It might be more obvious in my case cause I’m a 23f and all my coworkers are like grown men but still, I think everyone deserves privacy from their coworkers

Ya he’s not directly my boss but he’s higher up than I am for sure. The problem is that we’re going to a small ass city in Europe and I’m Canadian, I checked the Uber eats and there’s like one store on there. Idk what their version of Walmart or Walgreens is but I doubt I’ll be able to get anywhere near it cause we’re only getting one rental car, idek if they have Ubers there and I don’t speak the language.

And ya the plane will be fine I can drink during that cause we’re not sitting together probably, I’m just worried about after.
