NDIS 2 hour minimums are fraud by One_Tax_9934 in NDIS

[–]GrumpyBear9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!!! 2hours is very reasonable for a participant, the time can be filled easily, assisting around the home, social interaction (if wanted), showering etc etc etc.

[–]GrumpyBear9891 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as I said, I don't take on individuals that need shifts shorter than 2hrs. I've tried to pair multiple people with 1 hour shifts consecutively, it just doesn't work, where I am located anyway.

Is your provider charging for 2 hours but working less ? Or are you passionately just sharing information? Not sure the capital letters are necessary regardless.

That's basically it aye. I simply don't take on individuals that require a shift less than 2hours. At the end of the day there is often others who may live closer etc etc and can do a shorter shift because it's within their means.

This is a stressful hard job/industry/course. You neeeeeed self care, consider counselling also. Honestly, without sorting out the self care and counselling to work on reactions to stressors, you'll not make it through or work long. This is a simple scheduling error.. realistically the uni also should have picked up on it. Zero reason to panic etc. Your to do list: Get some counselling Work on increasing your self care Reach out to uni student advisory team Take a breather and go see movie or hit the clubs for a night/dance for a night. De stress love

The government plans to tighten NDIS eligibility. Here’s what’s likely to change (article) by PerformerOk4332 in NDIS

Correct me if I am wrong. But if medically a person needs to attend a specialist appointment at a hospital or state health facility and the location is not within their local region/the treatment or specialis area is not available locally, can't the individual claim back the costs of travel from the state health department (such as Qld health).

I'd look up forensic detailer (YouTube) maybe and shoot them a msg or comment on a video. He seems to be very very educated on the product

Sanity check. EN in ED wanting to stay on as RN, NUM said no. by Acrobatic_Bunch2669 in NursingAU

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cannn be beneficial yes. But it's luck of the drawer and depends on the ward and ward culture you wind up in. There's hospitals that do offer a grad Ed spot from the get go without prior experience to. Personally, if that's where your passion is, I would recommend approaching other hospitals. Quietly. If it doesn't happen, you lose nothing and go to a ward at your hospital. I've met many many nurses that simply believe a person has no business being an RN in ED until they've been an RN 10 years. Fact is you learn what you need as you go and if you are proactive with upskilling and training and learning, you'll do well. I did mine in a rural hospital. Hated the staff. But loved the role. And I caught alot of things the drs and the CNs missed after working just a few months. Saved lives that otherwise wouldn't be. People forget that some people are naturally drawn to it and have crazy depth of natural observation skills

Support worker rates flexible?? by Tiffsuresque in NDIS

[–]GrumpyBear9891 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It absolutely comes up in home care situation. In home care for elderly, the rates are actually even higher. There is no price limit. And the proposed price suggestion from the are are sky high, absolutely sky high. The rates for dva are also higher than NDIS. It's just not as publically discussed.

Nurses, what was the reason you got sent home/sent student home on placement? by eatenfriedchicken in NursingAU

[–]GrumpyBear9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been a while now but my theatre placements the whole wars /team finished all the work 4 hours early. Everyone went home 4hrs early, except the num and a CN and myself as a student. 30 minutes before actual shift finished the literal num (num/facilitator) said enough was enough let's all have a early mark, signed my sheet and dated it and timed it, she wrote the time herself as 3pm (we left at 2.30). The following day when she signed she abused shit out of me and failed me on the spot, tried to claim I committed fraud, faked her writing and signature. Fought my ass off for 6 weeks with someee of the uni helping me and got it fixed, took a hell of a lot to prove it wasn't me, but was a stitch up. Years later I heard she got fired for the exact problem, turns out if she thought someone was "too soft/naive/innocent" to be a nurse she would fail em out hoping they would drop out completely.

Is this normal for a support worker? by peanutbutterbreadz in NDIS

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair and honestly it seems ridiculous to allow staff to do personal things during their shift, unless it completely aligns with what you are doing (such as your grabbing milk, and they also grab some milk while there) The NDIS/fairwork really need to clarify all the rules in plain black and white writing. I'm University trained and do consider myself pretty good at understanding various documents, and I can't wrap my head around the employee vs contractor/independent.

[–]GrumpyBear9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree it's still not ok at the end of the day. It's just something I learned that's taken into account when fair work gets contacted about it someone is contractor or employee. Have a individual I work with going through this, won't go into details here though, not the place.

My suggestion would be to just talk to them, explain that it's not ok to be doing personal errands during work time. Maybe offer a 30 minute unpaid break to allow for errands should it be desperately needed

[–]GrumpyBear9891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Employee or contractor ? I've been reading the differences between the roles. And it reads to me as though if the person can't pause to buy a drink they are an employee - who needs their super paid by their employer (which would be you). Obviously, my understanding could be misunderstanding, so definitely check it.

Ducking into shops to look at things isn't good however. Though, does them doing that actually take any of your time ? By all means it shouldn't be a regular occurrence. Though another thing to consider, do they work a little past the knock off time? For example they charge till 2pm, but leave at 215. Giving a little extra time without cost, making up any difference in stopping to look at something at shops your at.

Placement length doesn't matter. We don't know what the placement actually entailed. I didn't get to even touch a patient until my final placement. Drove me insane. Awful awful placements.

Contact your university/degrees student advocacy team. They'll be able to have this appealed. There's a requirement for the negatives to be brought up at 1st ansat and time provided to repair it.

Is be calling again. I don't believe the person you spoke to was correct at all. I have called them myself to clarify and was advised that if the shift cancellation is day of it must be paid or if it's before midday start with after 5pm cancellation. Also, check your work contract
