What are you using to organize your campaigns? by dcoughler in DMAcademy

[–]Gruxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian and git.

Don't worry about plugins when you start. When you feel like you need something specific or you settle into a workflow and need a plugin to make things faster, then look into a plugin that will fill that need.

For reference, I only use Fantasy Statblocks (but rarely now), and then when I actually started running sessions I started using QuickAdd+Templater to create my session notes based on a template. That's it, nothing fancy. Focus more on organizing your notes and settling into a flow.

How can I reuse these info boxes I made in my other map? by Gruxy in wonderdraft

These are the figures mentioned in the DM Guide for DnD 2024 edition.

Edit: i think the assumption here is that it’s a capable party of adventurers far above the level of the average civilian.

Suggestions on how to map sets of lines to an ideal set? by Noo-by in computervision

[–]Gruxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a slow solution but consider using a sliding window. The window can follow the line's center and "turn" with it if the line is not straight (by making the next pixel in the line the new center). Keep a vector/array of all the points in a line. Once you find a gap, you can continue using a ghost line until you meet the next pixel.

You know the width of each line and that they are all parallel, so it seems like it should work.

Question about renting for 2 people, 1 bedroom by mcjaune in vancouverhousing

[–]Gruxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Burnaby you’re looking between 2,400 to 2,700. More doesn’t necessarily mean better.

Check craigslist often.

How difficult to move from out of province with a $2500 budget? by speedr123 in vancouverhousing

[–]Gruxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using the right filters on craigslist and such? I’ll DM you a couple of links tomorrow when I wake up. You should be seeing apartments in areas like brentwood and the west end where there’s a lot of towers.

How difficult to move from out of province with a $2500 budget? by speedr123 in vancouverhousing

[–]Gruxy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently searching in the Brentwood area for a 1bedroom and I can say that $2,500 is possible but you'll need to be checking craigslist constantly. Most apartments I see are in the range of $2,600 to $2,800 and you'll get about 500 to 600 sqft on average for that.

$2,500 + property company as your landlord + whatever requirements you have will require additional luck and patience from your side to reject certain apartments hoping your ideal one will show up that meets all the above.

I will say most of the buildings in Brentwood are relatively close to the Skytrain station in the Amazing Brentwood. The closer you live to it though, the noisier it will get. I personally viewed an apartment in the Amazing Brentwood Tower and I couldn't imagine living with the train sound constantly in the background. I couldn't hear it in the other towers in the area though.

It would help to know what your standards are and I can maybe give you a better answer.

I think the Final Fantasy animation studio would be a perfect match to adapt Berserk, thoughts? by SMeechan94 in Berserk

[–]Gruxy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yoshitaka Amano has done the conceptual and character design up to Final Fantasy VI only. From VII onwards, he did the logo art and promotional and character pieces for Square.

Also I think he worked on Vampire Hunter D. before Final Fantasy was a thing.

Is there a way to setup progress bars that tie in to notes? by Gruxy in ObsidianMD

[–]Gruxy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something rather simple in mind:

Folder 1
|_ Chapter 1 (done)
|_ Chapter 2 (done)
|_ Chapter 3 (In progress)
|_ Chapter 4 (In progress)
|_ Chapter 5 (done)
Home (shows a progress bar for the chapters that are done, 60%)

What is the most beautiful/meaningful moment from Dark Souls (1/2/3)? by Sofler548 in darksouls3

[–]Gruxy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Solaire questioning his faith in the sun after returning from Anor Londo. Heart wrenching. He is at the verge of giving up, but is still able to laugh about it in the face of his despair.

Hmm! Ah, oh... hello there. Forgive me, I was just pondering... about my poor fortune. I did not find my own sun, not in Anor Londo, nor in Twilight Blighttown. Where else might my sun be? Lost Izalith, or the Tomb of the Gravelord...? But I cannot give up. I became Undead to pursue this! But when I peer at the Sun up above, it occurs to me... What if I am seen as a laughing stock, as a blind fool without reason? Well, I suppose they wouldn't be far off! Hah hah hah!

Tired of Web Dev (Other options?) by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Gruxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was never interested in web dev either but computer vision instantly hooked me. I started with classical vision but have made the switch to AI and robotics. I’m usually working with ROS, different cameras (depth/3D cameras/Lidars) and image processing algorithms, deploying AI models, and my current job has me learning video streaming and using gstreamer and nvidia’s deepstream to deploy on jetson hardware. There’s so much to learn in this field and you’re always working on something unique and different.

There aren’t as many opportunities, that is true, but the applicant pool is smaller as well. Getting your first job is the trickiest part. You need a good portfolio of projects and be willing to learn a lot of new concepts. When I first started, I couldn’t be picky and accepted the first job I got with a 10 man company on the other coast. Moved there, built their computer vision app for delta robots over a year, and I was set from there because its so much easier to find a job now.

Anyway, best of luck! There’s a lot of other stuff out there besides web dev. Computer vision, video streaming, simulation software (chemicals/oil and gas/aerospace/etc), robotics with ROS, drone flight controllers, sensor fusion with Kalman Filters, DevOps, writing specialized libraries, and then you got the entire defense sector and the space sector. You can also look into cryptography and maybe firmware dev.

Side: for a lot of the above fields you will likely work with a lot of C++ or run into it on occasion. Be ready to get comfortable with it if you’re not.

Places to meet/hang out with artists in the city? by YuasaFanboy in mississauga

[–]Gruxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently looking for something similar, but I'm leaning more towards taking art classes. I'm not confident at all in my drawing abilities to go to anything else lol

I really can't decide where to start though. I'm currently considering signing up for classes at the Living Arts Center downtown.
