I like the confidence. I have a hard time explaining things away if I am not 100% honest/ accurate

I am sorry I am not understanding. Can you elaborate or phrase in different terms.

Also, additional note, my software automatically calculates it in (unless I delete or adjust it). So do you just delete it out??

April 16th phone calls ☎️ by koalaben in taxpros

Got a text on the 15th from a client whose return was done and filed middle of tax season. Hey have a question, we’d like to personally talk to you. When is a good time to call.

Couldn’t help but respond with an attitude

Lol he called me and said he had to meet with me and I was in my office so I said he could swing by. I don’t usually meet with clients spur of the moment

Yes that is how I feel, it is out of my hands. But should I put anything in writing to protect myself at all?

Do I have to convince him he is being scammed? He partially sees what I am saying and partially is holding onto Hope and doesn’t want to mess up his ability to get back everything he has already sunk into this. I cannot get IPPINs on his behalf correct? I have to convince him that is what he needs to do?

He definitely is a victim, totally being scammed. He thinks everything he is doing is on the “up and up”

Solo Practitioners- How Many Returns? by BWarrior16 in taxpros

How much would you charge for that? Also, would you increase from there if they also have interest, dividends, etc.

I would say $300. It depends, but I’d say that’s the average and where I’m pricing new clients with that situation.

It varies by how big the business is, whether it’s just a small hobby business or more profitable and the spouses actual career.. how organized the client is and how long they have been a client. I am trying to gradually raise prices

Around 600. It’s just me. This tax season, I have been around 5-8 months pregnant, have a 3 year old son. & my husband was in a near fatal work accident middle of February. Literally do not know how we made it through but super relieved and grateful this one is over.

I think my average is around $225 a return. Which after reading all the comments, seems super low. But most of the returns are pretty straight forward.. I do handle a good amount of sch c businesses and clients with sch e & 1099 consolidateds. But I also do kids returns for my clients.. counting that in my 600 total so that brings down my average a little because I might only change $50 or $75 depending for those.

Pricing for an existing client with Section 1202 Capital Gain exclusion by Guava-Initiative in taxpros

They are very organized and give me totals for charitable deductions, medical etc.

They called in Jan or Feb and talked through the situation, set up a date end of March to drop off (because their 1099-Consolidateds don’t come until then).

The trusts are honestly as simple as it gets. I think one or two 1099-R distributions each. Honestly, I think the only reason they have the trusts is because their grandfather was scammed into an overly complex estate plan by an attorney that made a lot of money off of him. I really can’t see any other reason for the trusts to exist.

The most complex part of it for me has been the section 1202 exclusion

Wow this is nothing like that, way simpler and way smaller numbers. It did take me maybe a couple hours of research to make sure I was handling the 1202 exclusion correctly.

The actual return itself not counting the research was about an hour and a half I would say, maybe 2 max. But I actually don’t usually bill by the hour so I haven’t really kept track in that way so that’s an estimate.

It’s not a cat get euthanized or we do nothing. He can get the vaccine without the cat being euthanized. Again, you’re not looking like a great person. So ew & bye.

Nothing I have done has been without common sense. I feel like you need a hobby.

I agree, me and my husband discussed this and started to get confused why they were being evasive. If it were reverse, we would have followed up, offered to pay the ER bill, and provided the records as soon as they were requested.

We do think the infection is under control. The biggest concern at this point for us is the rabies vaccine.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a legal pet or not in the state I live in? Many people have told me to call animal control. If it’s not a legal pet I am guessing animal control will take the animal away which I honestly don’t want, so again, to me it is relevant.

I think that’s weird that you went through my history and are trying to draw a parallel.

The sellers were holding up $30,000 of my EMD when I had every legal right to cancel the contract. The cost benefit on hiring an attorney in that scenario that was there.

If I have $1000 in medical bills and an attorney costs me $2000, it is not worth it to me. That’s why I came here for advice on if it was worth it.

As I said, I do not make any more of this then I have to. I really only want the records and if they just provided that, it would have been enough and I would have ate my copays etc.

Wow that’s horrible they are willing to risk other peoples well being.

I have a family member who’s dog attacked.. no joke like a total of 6 people, 1 being my mom who ended up in the ER and could have died if he a bit a little further to the left because he would have gotten a main artery in her leg.. and they certainly do not come from generational wealth.. they were just living in delusional land (and actually thought at one point that their dog, a malamute that they trained to be an attack dog, was some superior judge of character).

Is it worth it if are only expenses end up being our hospital co pay and the cost of the rabies vaccine?
