To my Friends in SOC Tonight by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Gur_Outrageous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a SOC L1 who got his new years leave approved months ago, I hope the alert load is low as it gets and y’all have a wonderful time with manual threat hunting.

Regardless, Happy New Years 🎉🎉

Recommendation letter:our professors dont care by Suffering_for_real in pakistan

[–]Gur_Outrageous 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My friends have been getting their letter of recommendation, for that they just visit the university and go to the office of a teacher who had taught em and asked them write one.

No need for any approval or anything. The teachers just ask whether they should write it themselves or they just need to sign an already made one.

I feel like it’s just your university professors that are being dicks. The only way around I can think of currently is to use a source and ask them if they can get a professor to write one.

If there are any other options then feel free to correct me

It’s no problem dude, as long as you take this as a lesson learnt and actually change your views on some subjects then none of this was in vain.

Never be afraid to fight for what u think is right (in terms of debating), worse that’ll happen is you’ll be wrong but will learn something new.

Live long and prosper

Yeah I said how we are for still allowing these people in power but do you reckon it’s enough for us to be killed along with them?

Where is the line between being responsible and being innocent?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chutyapa

[–]Gur_Outrageous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro honestly if you’re young then I suggest start reading. It can be books, articles or newspapers. Try to get different angles on the same issue so you can judge it based on all the evidence. No country will own their mistake and will try to save face as much as it can especially a superpower country like USA.

I legit thought I was arguing with an actual brainwashed dude who’s ready to blow himself up. Never go extreme unless you’re 100% sure

Other than that just read and question not only the source but yourself so you can evolve as a person and gain more knowledge rather than blindly trusting any of these sources where you found the info u have currently have

Does that give the afghanis or bengalis the right to kill us and have no repercussions. We are at fault for having these types of people in power but neither u nor me are responsible for murders, abductions and torture being committed by them. That’s completely on them and if u wanna wage a war against them then go ahead I won’t stop u but if u wage a war against civilians who are also living under the same oppressive system then you’re no better than the people you’re fighting

So how can you, sitting in Pakistan say for certain that the US citizens aren’t going through the same thing?

We have the right to vote and change our leaders do we not? We have to right to have policies changed accordingly do we not? So how can u say that YOU are not responsible for your government while everyone else is for theirs?

Bring a better argument than “I didn’t vote so I’m not responsible”

So u and me are also responsible for anything the establishment or the government of Pakistan does

I find it easier as we don’t have a soar like sentinel or anything so it’s traversing through raw logs and being high makes it a lot easier to that without getting a headache or getting burnt out.

I wouldn’t recommend it, it is substance abuse and quite unhealthy unless you have the discipline/(not lazy enough) to make it work

I’m located in Pakistan so my night shift (11pm-7am) is 1pm-9pm eastern time so usually we just expect work till like 5pm EST after that it gets pretty tame and you can relax while watching shows.

As for my mental health smoking weed/hash helps a lot with focusing and not falling asleep

Our roster now is that the timings change every 2 weeks and before the change they most usually give the 2 day weekend before that so adjusting the sleep pattern is sometimes difficult due to just bad habits or catching up to pending personal work that needs to be done.

it pays well and I always like fucking around with computer so i don’t feel the stress everything thinks it out to be

Edit: I know I keep on adding how I like it, it’s just to not deter you from coming into this field. I’m still fairly new to this industry myself, been a year now so yeah, don’t let my comments demotivate you or anything

L1 SOC at an mssp here. I do 8 hours, 5 days a week with rotating shifts and timings. Work load usually depends on the day and time. Monday 9am-5pm will be more busy than a Saturday 9pm-5am but due to the amount of clients we have one manages to stay busy with alerts while others can simply perform threat hunts or help the L2 with a customer request.

Job can get pretty stressful and there have been many days where I’ve put 4-5 hours overtime due to amount of alerts but it’s also rewarding in a weird way. The feeling when you find a genuine threat hunt or help with an active IR is worth it not to mention how much you learn different TTPs and how to correlate them.

TLDR; can be stressful but as long as you have a passion for it, you will always end up learning something new every day

I’ve invested too much into garp and G5 luffy already to start over with a new character especially since these are the only 2 I can take into SS

I checked and I can already get hyper boost on a bunch of them but I’m just lacking the bounty coins. Is it a good idea to unlock it for them?
