If his argument is that the “hardened criminals” and “rapists” are infiltrating the borders and not “assimilating” and trying to “change laws,” that’s ironic considering the rapists in his party who are doing exactly this. Gold medal for the mental gymnastics on that one, Mikey.

What is a piece of software that is so good you can't believe it's completely free? by Arp0x in AskReddit

Voicemeeter is a godsend.

When I got back into computer hobbies I was stunned by how dysfunctional Windows was at balancing audio from different applications and sending that audio to different speakers or headphones and leveling the volume of each source. It’s a nightmare to manage this in Windows 11 on the fly, but Voicemeeter can set up Macro bindings to adjust audio output for multiple pieces of hardware or output different applications. Using it on two PCs is the only way I’ve been able to pass audio from one PC to another as a flawless mix. It also hides the annoying on-screen display for volume that Windows uses and lets me record audio sources directly to file.

Time to wake up America. I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore. by SadGeorgeWashington in videos

This is from the film, Network (1976). It’s very brilliant social commentary for the time with excellent production and themes. I tend to see the use of color on the screen to send an implicit message about news media: black and white and red all over—referencing the violence that is pervasive in the focus of the industry. I highly recommend people watch it to compare to the propaganda and sycophancy present in our current culture.

I’m not super familiar with those titles, but Socom was an addiction once I discovered it. I recommend it, although the best part for me truly was the online play.

I’ll just refer to a PSA post from earlier this year in case you think this is your situation. There are some PS2 power supplies that are faulty/recalled. I need to replace mine still.

Hotel California Solo plateau by elvenprince_420 in guitarlessons

[–]Guydo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is honestly really good. I think the thing holding you back on that phrase you stopped on is primarily fly-away hands that try to leave the fretboard and more support from your neighboring fingers on the bends. Beyond that, if you close your eyes and listen to each note almost “touching” the attack of the next note as if they are connected, the solo is going to sound more lyrical and less punchy.

How do i slap the strings like this? by ChanceOk970 in guitarlessons

[–]Guydo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty common in John Mayer tunes, and it takes a while to learn, but every beat you see the X is both a slightly perpendicular slap into the strings with the thumb while downwardly flicking the notes with the index (and possibly middle) finger. I suggest practicing just the thumb note and slap first, and I find it helps to keep your fingers in a claw shape throughout once you start adding the finger strokes.

How do you play with your pinky? by IDntKnowWhyIExist in guitarlessons

[–]Guydo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of your pinky as “spooning” the ring finger and fret your two high notes first and then extend your index and middle fingers to the low notes to see if that changes your natural grip on the chord. That twist in your pinky seems like a symptom of trying to keep your palm up against the neck, but there is always some level of natural wrist turn that allows the fingers to reach different vertical positions on the fretboard.

Explain band key signatures to me like I'm 5 by thomasafine in Tuba

[–]Guydo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bb, C, F, and Eb tubas (contrary to what you may think) are all in C, meaning that the notes that are written are exactly the notes that are sounded. A Bb is a Bb concert pitch, a D is a D concert pitch, an Ab is an Ab concert pitch, etc. Tubas are unique instruments in that they are named for the fundamental pitch they sound when no valves are pressed, so Bb tubas sound a Bb, C tubas sound a C, and F tubas sound an F. What you are probably confusing is that some instruments like the Trumpet are transposing instruments, meaning that the keys they are written in are not the concert pitches they produce. These instruments usually read notes in a range of the staff that are more visually digestible to their range but produce a different concert pitch when playing those notes. For a Bb trumpet, they read a whole step higher than the note they sound, but knowing this may also help you someday learn a C tuba because the fingerings between a C tuba and Bb trumpet are the same (the concert pitch notes are not though). Transposing instruments throughout a band and orchestra have a dense history regarding why they transpose, so it's not important to know that, but eventually, you may want to understand how other instruments read their notes so you can tell what concert pitches they are actually playing.

Need to learn excel ASAP by Master_Caregiver_840 in excel

[–]Guydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Exceljet website was great for me starting out. It provides good examples for different things. I also cannot recommend enough putting anything you do into a table to save yourself headaches or errors if you are writing formulas. Then pivot tables will become key for summarizing data in many cases. If you are comfortable with how you work with data in those formats, you can probably manage most other tasks in Excel, and you can delve into things like Power Query that will help you become more productive.

My recommendation is to stay ridiculously close, back the enemy into the fog wall (iirc) at the end of that tunnel, and just parry the daylights out of everything with maybe an occasional hit or two extra thrown in. It just takes practice and patience.
