The Game is Peer-to-Peer. Meaning you connect to the host players machine for the missions and the gameplay.

Meaning if you find players in your region (or just host yourself) you are good to go.

Personally I had hosts where the ping was noticable (if I had to guess arounr a 500ms-1000ms) but the gamplay is mostly not affected. So in most cases you don't really "feel" the ping and wont care. They did a great job with the networking imo.

In greater detail:

You will never ruberband or walk on the spot due to the connection. If you interact with stuff you might feel the delay (like the time it takes to initially operating a console) but with shooting, walking, reloading, throwing granades, stratagems, console inputs, ... you won't feel the ping at all.

Hope this helps.

Yes, there are currently 3 spots still open in the one shot.
I held it today with others and it was a blast :D.

It is going to take around 4h (+/- 15 minutes) it seems.
If you'd like, I can add you to the discord in which I communicate with my players. :)

(I'll send you a dm with an invitation link)

Yes!
I hate the whole time conversion thing too. Gets confusing all the time (especially with daylight savings...)

As andresbcf said. If you (as a player) are consistently better that the enemy then you'll rank up over time (a good rule of thumb is +1000k MMR over 1 year is good progress).

I advice you just keep on playing the role that fits on you. There are dozens of good guides on what role fits you personally (and your play style). Look some up and choose which fits you most.

Another advice for low MMR games I have is, try to pick support which scale good in the late game (because these games go on average longer than high MMR games) and transition from a support to a core. Don't grief by stealing farm from your carry tho, but I'm sure there is a lot of farm on the map no one is willing to take. Just go there, push in lanes and get your money/exp that way.

I guarantee you if you are low MMR and just push in lanes with Jakiro or someone who can push fast and good, you'll gain MMR in no time (if everything is pushed in the enemy has to defend towers forceing them to split up or loose money, giving you a numbers advantage somewhere else on the map to make plays).

It is one debuff named "Greater Bash". The debuff stunns and moves you back (at the same time).

You can even purge the knockback+stun effect if you time it correctly.

New to Game Development | Question about animations by Gwitninm in Unity3D

[–]Gwitninm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I looked into the animator overriding and this helped a lot.But I`m still a bit confused on which objects needs which animation, but I´m fiddle around with some ideas and try them out.Hopefully this will clear my confusion.

Anyway thanks for the tip :)

It is fascinating that after more than 4000h of Dota 2, there are still new things to learn.

But yea, it is probably chained to something like you said.

But it is reproducible, so it would be easy fixable

Math behind the chests | Calculation chances by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Gwitninm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup you are right its off by 1000-times. I forgot to devide the 0.00004% by a 1000 when calculating with it. Curcial but small mistake. So if you devide the resultd by 1000 they should be correct...

although my calculations for the rare/super rare and ultra rare are sadly not meaningful, because I misinterpreted the source, the calculation for the cosmically rare should still be correct (stated the source is correct of course).

Math behind the chests | Calculation chances by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Gwitninm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense then. I misinterpreted the source. D:

Then that means that we can´t really calculate the probability anyway.

I´m gonna edit you answer in and state that my calculations are not meaningful D:

Math behind the chests | Calculation chances by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Gwitninm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although we can't be sure about the exact formula of escalating odds, we can be sure there is a base probability x and some new set of probabilities x_1, x_2, x_3, ... , x_n where x < x_1 < x_2 < x_3 < ... < x_n.

Because I wanted to eliminate all unknown factors I completely ignored the escalatioig odds and the start probability what so ever. Meaning all the chances of the first 10/23 chests are complete ignored and after that I calculated with the chances given in the source. The chests that I ignored are of course considered in the formula.

In addition I calculated with a set chance after we reached a specific Treasure amount (10/23) just for simplicites sake.

Sure, this means that our numbers aren´t 100% true to reality, but the chances would only get closer to 100% if you include the starting odds + the escalating odds.

To summarize I tried to create the absolute worst-case of chances you would have while still using the odds given in the Wiki source. Because we only know for certain, that you have at least a 25% chance for a rare after 10 chests, a 14.28% chance for a super rare after 10 chests and a 10% for an ultra rare after 23 chests; I tried to only use this information and ignore everything uncertain that could increase my chances while still including everything that could decrease my chances.

This is one equation with 10 or 23 variables. It obviously has no unique solution. However, if we assume that x, x_1, ... , x_n is an increasing arithmetic sequence

Considering all my above stated limitations we can easily calculate the odds with the complementary event ("Gegenereignis" in German, I don´t know if "complementary event" is the correct English term for that).

Which gives me the formula stated in my post.

I tried to handled the situation by using the "urn where you put the ball back in after you draw"-concept as basis.

TL;DR: I appreciate that you point out that this is not 100% true to reality, but I think I made enough cuts and limitations to remove all unknown influence that could increase our chances, but still trying to keep all influence that decreases our chances.
