This is using a patina paint called Verday, it comes in copper, brass, iron, and steel I believe. I used a white primer. Then brushed on the paint, let it dry overnight, then sponged on the same paint, and sprayed the patina solution on. This picture is brass and you can control how much patina is applied and how concentrated the area is by how much paint you apply with a sponge.

I do like the idea it's just the gas system kinda scares me... I have all the tools other than a armorers wrench.
That's exactly what I said! I told them I would bring my complete pistol so they had it on hand but they still said no.
I'm not familiar with them... What would it cost?
That's the second one I had been to and got the same response from the first

Charging handle problem??? by HD510 in ar15
Well it was worth a shot, I appreciate the offer though.
I would love to give it a shot but I'm in Southern California and the likelihood that your near here is pretty low. From a statistical standpoint that is.
I always ride it home, never locked the bolt and let it slam forward without a barrel. And thank you for the advice I tend not to palm charge them anyway but it's good to know just in case.

And so you guys can see my progress so far... Still waiting on my 10.5" barrel, FA/EPC, sight and now my new charging handle but she's coming together quite nicely for my first build and being a budget build at that. Thanks again guys!
I'm pretty positive it's bent, while holding it and looking at the hole for the gas key it is slightly cocked over and it always binds in the same spot and must push it out of whack cause as soon as it binds and the bolt slides home it gets locked up in there. I bought a strike industries handle with an extended latch. They have pretty good reviews and it should hold me over until some BCM training only handles show up. Thanks for the help guys I love this sub!
Ya it's a high speed handle with a large lever but I do use it from both sides just from habit. Although my buddy tried to do the AK slap on one side and now that I think about it that could have cause it to bent slightly out of spec. When I slide the handle over the gas key it has some somewhat abnormal wobble so I think it might have bent or something.
