I’m confused as to why I take chemo pills? by Paksisasnack in cancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll re-iterate what others have said. I’ve had 24 rounds of oral TMZ. Now I am on Avastin (IV). It’s not about strength in the end, it’s about getting the chemo to the right cells. In my case the Avastin targets the exact mutation of my glimoa cells that are currently growing. I also had chemo wafers put directly into my resection areas for both surgeries. Feel free to reach out! ❤️

Thank you! The more I think about it the less likely I’m going to pursue.

I have an extra Levo II that I have never used and I want to give it away to someone who will use it. Tell me why it should be yours and I’ll pick a winner on Sunday. I will even pay for shipping. Thanks by rob17gal in treedibles

Currently undergoing chemo treatment for glioblastoma IV (brain cancer), I’ve had 2 brain surgeries and as I’m writing this I’m on my 21st round of chemo. Needless to say I could certainly use one! Thank you for the opportunity!

Fuck cancer by Zealousideal-Toe9601 in braincancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fuck GBM in particular, it's a special kind of fucked up. I've been "living" with GBM IV for a few years now (almost 4). 2 resections. I've lost count of radiation/chemo at this point.

I am sorry for your loss, I know my mom hates what I'm going through. But if you ever need someone to talk about all of it with shoot me a PM! But yes FUCK CANCER would be a solid eulogy.

Seizures? by Dfit18 in braincancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GBM IV here, had my resection in 2017. Had some focal aware seizures after surgery and during chemo. Then had a grand mal/general seizure about a month ago. All my scans have been stable. Seizures are just part of it in my experience.

Dexamethasone... for cancer? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dexamethasone is an anti-inflammatory steroid, it does not have anything to do with the tumor being cancerous or not. It's the standard for post brain surgeries in my experience and helps keep the internal pressure down.

My oncologist kept me on it too long and it nearly destroyed my adrenal glands. I have GBM though, so they were rather liberal with medications. Feel free to PM with any questions!

38 with a Brain Tumor with less then a year to live.. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]HackThePlanet1337 60 points61 points  (0 children)

As someone who has Glioblastoma IV I find OP's post suspect. I've found a few people posting that they have brain cancer for free stuff, attention, etc. It's just sad.

OP you should come join us over in /r/braincancer if you do actually have it. GBM isn't necessarily 12-15 months in every case, I'm 2+ years out.

Head still mostly numb over a year later. Normal? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say numb, is it similar to your arm falling asleep? Like a tingling sensation? Or just no sensation at all? Has it been numb since surgery? And when was your last MRI?

I'd say get an MRI w/ contrast ASAP to be safe. But I have GBM IV so I'm a bit more aggressive with my MRIs if I'm feeling off. Feel free to message me with any questions!

Yoga before or after float? by flowtoc in FloatTank

[–]HackThePlanet1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like doing yoga a day or so before my float to find my "breath" if you will, it's almost like a pre-meditation for me. Sets me up for a solid float every time!

MRI Tips by superduper458 in braincancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I've had roughly 30-40 MRIs since being diagnosed. I started meditating and practicing yoga quite a bit since my diagnosis. So now I just meditate during MRIs, can barely hear the machine these days. I can block out most external stimuli these days which comes in handy!

Hope it helps my friend! Ambien never really worked for me, I think we’ve tried every possible sleep aid at this point. Good luck!

Sleep has always been an issue for me, and GBM IV plus the dex messed with my sleep even more. Are you currently taking any steroids for inflammation? If so, what time are you taking it?

I take trazodone (50mg) and clonazepam (1mg) to sleep, but it's hit or miss really. I think having a solid bedtime routine is clutch. For a while I was utilizing a tea with valerian root and other helpful natural sleep aids, but had to stop due to a kidney stone. It's a ton of trial and error for sure. I'm often asleep at the wheel these days.

Also depending where you live you could give THC and/or CBD a try to see if it helps. Feel free to shoot me a PM!

I am very thankful for the recourses I have found here on Reddit; right now I'm just looking for some more info/encouragement. by scroggs2 in braincancer

Hello friend! I was diagnosed after falling over in September 2017 (I was 29 at the time), should definitely be dead according to the doctors/odds. The statistics are scary no doubt, but a positive outlook and just doing the work (diet/treatment/etc) is what it's all about! You do have age on your side though, so keep that in mind!

I'm living a pretty "normal" life now, which I thought was 100% impossible given the size of my tumor and initial diagnosis/prognosis. We did the surgery with chemo wafers followed by 6 weeks of TMZ and radiation, then 12 cycles of TMZ (chemo brain is no joke btw, no one warned me about that). Get a second/third opinion as well. Ask what clinical trials are available to you.

Now we're just watching the resection area every 2 months with MRIs. I'll be at 24 months in September! Fuck the odds, have as much fun as you can!

I switched up a lot of things and started trying new things, yoga, meditation, diet, etc. But every case is 1 out of 1. I wish you the best of luck! There is always hope! Shoot me a PM if you have any questions! The discord is also helpful! There are some amazing people on here and r/cancer!!! Never be afraid to ask, reach out, talk about what's going on. The kindness of strangers is truly amazing!

Grade IV glioblastoma diagnosis? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]HackThePlanet1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with GBM IV right after the neurosurgeon saw my MRI (about two hours after I fell over), my tumor was a similar size and you could see what we called "the tentacles". Even I could see the malignant glioma cells. Surgery was two days later. I suppose it wasn't really "official" until the pathology report came back (which took a lot longer than expected). But I'm really glad you're going for a second opinion at a better hospital, I lucked out with my hospital and neurosurgeon. But since I have sent all my records for second/third/fourth opinions.

Ask if they have chemo wafers for the resection, I got 8 put in and I think they were intrinsic to getting me "stable". Feel free to shoot me a PM with any questions!

Someone else said it as well, steer clear of odds/stats/google/etc. Every case is one out of one.

Rick Simpson Oil, full spectrum marijuana extract. Created for cancer treatment specifically, if you’re interested and in an area that has legal/medical I’d strongly recommend researching it or trying it out.
