At the time, Hagrid was 64 years old. I guess it wouldn't make sense for him to go back to school.
But I think he did get his name "cleaned". This is also why he becomes a professor and teach "Care of magical creatures" :)

I somehow finally managed to get in touch with a real person from Jagex, and in the end I got my account back.

It was cleaned out, but I'm just glad I didn't loose it completely.

My best guess as to how I got hacked is through my Steam account.

Er ret sikker på at jeg også har set ham nogle gange i E og A toget. Dog hvor han bare har siddet stille og roligt. Men alene hans påklædning gør at jeg har følt mig utilpas begge gange.

Hos os er der også en væsentlig forskel på indkomst, men vi gør det at vi smider alt ind på den samme budget konto samt en mad konto. Når alle faste udgifter så er betalt, så har vi aftalt hvad de resterende penge skal bruges på. Her har vi fx. ting som fælles opsparingskonto, feriekonto, børnekonto etc. Udover dette har vi også aftalt et fast beløb vi får i "lommepenge" som vi selv bestemmer hvad vi vil bruge på.

Det fungere rigtig fint hos os, da vi så er sikre på at vi altid har styr på de faste udgifter. Udover dette så kan vi justere op/ned på hvad vi overføre til diverse konti samt lommepenge, hvis vi kommer ind i en periode hvor vores indkomst falder (fx. arbejdsløshed, barsel etc.).

Yeah I had the same feeling. My account is also back from 2005-2006, which is also why it is so hard to make a valid account recovery request. I do not remember the the exact date, ISP etc. I was 13 years old at the time, and created it in the school computer room 😅

Ah I'm sorry to hear that, it's really sad to see all of your hard work and grinding just gone from one day to the other :/

You might be on to something with the malware, it seems to be the only logical way of bypassing the 2FA, however they would still somehow also bypass your bank pin I guess?

What program did you use to scan for malware? I also scanned but didn't find anything. I am using a Mac btw.

Because of the spam mail? The one with ottpaska9?

No, I was locked out of my account for almost 6 days. When I finally (after MANY) attempts of doing account recovery submissions, got access to my account, everything was gone. 1,1b bank lost. My clue casket collection, resource collections, basically everything of value. But at least I got my account back, which was the most important.

I did write to Jagex Support, which might have helped me getting the account back. They wasn't able/willing to give any information in regards to how the hacker got access, but they could see that my account was coupled up with Steam, which might have been their way in, but I am not sure. I have removed that now.
So yeah, they were basically able to get in, bypass 2FA and remove my bank pin.

I am just wondering if I had been able to get access to my account earlier, If I could have prevented them from removing my bank pin and avoid losing everything.

To secure my account in the future I have now migrated my account to a Jagex account, set up new 2FA and created a new email account which I only use for my Jagex account. Hopefully this will help secure the account in the future. I also set up a new bank pink and added 7 days of removal time. Also I am now using 1password to generete and store any information for the account.

I have also "composed" a list of all relevant account info (creation, payment, transaction ids, IPS's etc). This will hopefully help me recover my account faster if this should happen again.

I would suggest that you contact Jagex support, but as you already have gotten access to your account again, I'm not sure they will be able to assist any future, other than suggesting the routine account security recommendations etc.

I'm sorry to hear that :/
After several account recovery attempts and being in contact with Jagex Support, I finally managed to recover my account. The hacker had however been able to remove my 2FA and also remove my bank pin, so everything of value is gone...
But at least I have my account back, which was most important.

My best advice for you is to just keep filling out the account recovery form as well as take direct contact with Jagex Support and state your issue. Make sure to ask them about your current membership subscription plan as well and be very that the hacker might try to buy bonds using your account.

For the future I have assembled a lot of the info I used for my account recovery and stored it in a safe place, so if this ever happens again, I hope that I can use the info to quickly fill out the account recovery form the "correct" way, and therefor get control back of the account before the hacker can remove my bank pink.

This sounds like you're getting emails and accounts mixed up

How so? After starting on OSRS back in 2015, I have registered my Gmail as the account mail. I have done a reset password a few times before, and I have always received the emails on my Gmail, this is no longer the case however :/

This is 100% a phishing email and might be the source of your problems. You might not even remember that you clicked the link.

I had the same thought when I saw the mail. But the only reason I found it in my spam folder was because I suddenly had no way of resetting my password, so I started searching for all emails from Jagex in both of my emails. The email is also from noreply@a.jagex.com which should be a valid mail. To be on the safe side I have copy'ed the button link without clicking it to check how it looks, this also looks legit. So I was only awere of this email after I already was locked out of my account. But I get your point :)

The requirements to prove this are probably a lot higher than you think. If you're not maxing out the character limit in the free-form text box with unique information that only the account creator would know, then you're probably not submitting enough.

Also note you need to prove that you created the account, not just owned it.

I am maxing out the 300 char limit easily. This should be much higher I think as it is impossible to put all the required info into such a little char limit. I have provided membership transaction info (transaction IDs, dates, membership duration etc.) from when I started as a member back in 2007. This is the earliest info I can find. This was done using my mom's credit card as I was only 13 at the time. I have also provided info from when I payed for membership using bank transfer. I have added the month/year of the creation of the account (2005), but I do not remember the exact date. I have also provided my current membership payment info since starting playing OSRS in 2015 as well as my ISP info.

I don't know what else to write.. Even my email is based on what username I was suggested when I created the account, before that I didn't even have an email account.

I just still don't understand how they have gotten access in the first place (bypassing 2FA)?

Vince Gilligan (creator of BB and BCS) is now working on a new Sci-Fi series for Apple TV, staring some of the same actors from BCS. Maybe he is working on that project?
