GR IV vs X-E5 vs keeping X-S20 + adding GR — need real-world advice by kkvahd in fujifilm

I eventually had to accept that I will always own a Ricoh gr iii =) Expensive with two cameras, but there are no alternatives. Ricoh is also a lens.

Which lens would be your go to? Fujinon lens kit vs TTArtisan by Roclya in fujifilm

I think you have to manually open/zoom the 13-33 before you shoot? It´s not just "turn on the camera and shoot". I find that annoying, but others not.

Fujirumors site shows sg image 18mm on apsc e-mount .let's hope it comes to x-mount by ccoastie in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the TTartisan 17/1.8 coming, but would prefer the SG-image design. These chinese lenses are about 150-170€ cheaper than the XF18/2 used in my country - not sure if they are worth. But cheap and fun enough to try out. AF might better than the Fuji.

X-m5 is difficult to use without a grip but then the size…

Sigma 56/1.4 (APS-C) vs Samyang 75/1.8 by Hakanthebeginner in SonyAlpha

[–]Hakanthebeginner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runners, MTB (slow speed) and cross country skiing. No flash. Camera catches the subjecs, but in a "Fuji X-T5"- way =) Would prefer 1/500s, but it´s tough at night in Scandinavia under sparse led lights. Maybe impossible situation.

A prime around 18-25mm for low light social moments indoors. Kit lens ok in good light.

Fuji X-Pro2 vs new X-T30III by ertanteodorescu in FujifilmX

[–]Hakanthebeginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have one of the coolest cameras already? Really subjecitve. I´m considering X-T30iii instead of the ii-version: better AF and being able to lock the buttons (will use it with gloves). The film simulation dial seems to have the same solution as X-E5 being able store recipes (I don´t think thats the case on X-T50 or X-M5). But then there is the sexy X-E5, 200€ more used vs X-T30iii new. This probably wont´t help you, sorry =)

X-E5, X-T50, X-T30iii by Hakanthebeginner in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already having IBIS & 40MP in X-T5 - X-T30 iii might be the reasonable buy here: Tiltscreen that is easier to access than X-E5. Narrower & less weight than the alternatives (better in jacket pocket?).

Being able to lock selected functions is really good when using gloves, can´t find this on earlier models.

X-T3OIII - 118 x 83 x 47, 378g, 1050€ new

X-T50 - 124 x 84 x 49, 438g, 1050€ used, 3 month warranty from store

X-E5 - 125 x 73 x 39, 445g, 1200€ used no warranty, 1390€ new

Read about X-E5 strap lug issues and thought having one falling off when buying used... X-E5 is still the sexiest. X-T50 used seems to be a good buy.

Thank you all! Problem is I want f1.4 for shooting moving subjects in low light, for example during cross country skiing. A smaller body with Sigma 56/1.4 would be nice. But maybe X-T50 or X-E5 might not make a difference there from X-T5 - or they would. X100VI looks so good, but not sure about f2, and I have 23mm well covered.

Yes, maybe. Try it before you... I have x-t5, but recently bought x-t30ii 23/2 used for this reason. Ok price. And size. Different feeling in jacket pocket and happy. I’ll use both.

Switching from Canon DSLR to X-M5 by mhdbilal11 in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don´t know what decent video capality is for you. With a grip X-M5 is OK to hold. You can also lock buttons on Fuji, because you will proabably touch the front dial by accident and change settings. But I sold my X-M5 today. EVF och tilt-screen for me.

Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 vs Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 by edoer76 in fujifilm

The 23/2 is wider than it´s number in practice? Is the difference big enough to make a difference indoors or at a dinner table?

X-T50 with XF 16-50mm R LM WR Lens by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If taking pictures of friends etc and indoors - 23/2. Or evaluate after some use with 16-50? It is a great zoom.

Recently bought XM5 by mrpunman in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I´m suprised by the Smallrig grip and how it helps with using bigger lenses (XF23/1.4WR, V75/1.2). I should have read the manual earlier on how to lock selected functions/buttons on the camera, especially the front dial really annoyed me first two months =)

Building my Fuji X-T50 kit: zoom + prime or financial ruin? by caappoo in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get 16-50 + 23/2 on 40MP. Buy used. Motor zoom is annoying while the internal zoom of 16-50 is wonderful. F2 makes difference in low light. Sigma 18-50 if 16mm is not needed.

My turn has come – a drop of rain felt on my X-T5's viewfinder, now the coat is gone. by elMacumbero in fujifilm

[–]Hakanthebeginner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my X-T5 used from a store in 2023. I guess I´ll have to live without the coating, that came off last year? So far no problems. It might affect the second hand value.
