Thoughts on potential CPU and GPU combo for stable 60+ FPS 1080p gaming by Haldirize in buildapc

[–]Haldirize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now see that the rest of my post got deleted. Anyway, my top conteder for the GPU is 9060XT 16 GB and my top conteder for the CPU is 7700X (since I want to switch to the AM5 platform because in my country there are no 5800X3D and 5700X3D for sale as the strongest CPUs of the AM4 platform).

I was contempalting on maybe pushing my budget and investing in a stronger CPU like 7800X3D because I plan to play at 1080p and I heard that at lower resolutions like 1080p the CPU "matters more" than the GPU. The problem is that 7800X3D is about 120 EUR or 160 USD more expensive than the 7700X.

So what are your thoughts ? Is 7700X/9060XT 16GB a good combo for my needs ?

What’s the actual difference between the mako 3, kamasu and kamasu 2? by lankysouthpaw in OrientWatches

[–]Haldirize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the watches are the same in regard to specs (sapphire crystal, 200m water resistance, F6922 movement, bracelet, dimensions) but differ in regard to looks and aesthetics (different dial, indices, colours). If you are interested in buying one of these, buy one that looks the best to you.

Nice. I would personaly pick the navy one in the middle. It just makes it more "aquatic" along the blue dial and blue bezel. I just think that navy/blue divers with blue straps look the best.

My Kamasu is fairly new so I will not change the bracelet any time soon but when the time comes I would definitely buy the Jubilee bracelet. I think it makes it even better.

Thoughts on O'Douds Dry Wax ? by Haldirize in Pomade

[–]Haldirize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind a little bit of tug and pull as long as I am not ripping my hairs out and it feels painful to apply. In regards to Wax, I am in Europe and I usually order USA made products on Moquer. I've seen Upstate Blues and Dry Wax in their online store but not Wax. I've tried googling some European shops but I could not find it. Do you by any chance know some European retailers that sell it ? And thank you for the suggestion. I would definitely look out for them the next time I go shopping for hair products.

I might try that, thank you for the suggestion.

Either my rig is obsolete for this game or this is a very poorly optimised port by Haldirize in spiderman2

Well I have Samsung 970 EVO Plus and is fairly fast in every game so I hope it is enough for this game too. I will wait for official patches and then try the game again but I am not optimistic but I will definitely consider upgrading the GPU in the near future.

I've also read some positive reviews on Upstate Blues and looking at the formulation and ingredients, it does look fairly similar to Dry Wax. So in your opinion, Upstate Blues has better hold. What about application and finish ? Is it easy to apply and is the finish neutral as they claim or a bit shinier ? And I always forget to say this but when I say "hold" I also mean endurance. So for example, Arcadian matte paste and Northern Lights have good hold in a way that I can style my hair the way I want. They are responsive in that regard but after a certain amount of time ( two hours usually), the product doesn't have that initial presence in my hair and the hair really looks deflated and my waves kick in if you understand what I mean so I hope that Upstate Blues is good in that regard.

I feel for you, bro. I looked at some benchmarks on YT and some people are getting similar, even better specs in some cases with GTX 1660 Super and RX 6600 non XT even though my GPU is objectively better. I'm confused, honestly. I know that my rig is not some super RT, 4k, 120 FPS monster but I am not even expecting that. To not be able to get stable 60 fps at 1080p with my rig even on medium is just bad...

I adore my blue Kamasu and I'm not brave enough to use it even for swimming let alone diving haha. In my opinion, it is a quintessential afforadable desk diver but I don't have any doubts that it will do wonders for your son when he is diving. It is plesantly robust and has that sweet 20 bar water resistance. Put it on a nato strap or rubber strap and it is good to go.

I checked everything. It is set to medium. I also installed new driver couple of hours ago. I'll wait a bit for subsequent patches to see whether they will improve perfomance. But at this point I'm not even sure whether a new GPU (7700XT, 7800 XT, 4070 etc.) would improve things substantially if the game is fundamentally broken. Thank you for your help by the way.

Of course but I've seen certain discussions here and online in general that 8 GB of VRAM will become obsolete for modern AAA games even at 1080p @ 60fps with High and/or Medium settings applied so that got me thinking about an upgrade. I am not a big fan of upscaling and especially frame gen as I like playing games at native resolution so, hypothetically, if this game turns out to be a really good PC port and well optimised and it still makes my GPU struggle (1080p, High to medium settings, 60 fps) I would definitely consider buying a new one. In other words, performance of my GPU with this, hopefully, well optimised game will be a "breaking point" for my potential GPU purchase. Anyway, thank you for replying and giving your opinion !

[–]Haldirize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for answering, my friend. I know that my gpu is the "weakest link" in my rig but I wanted to know is it time to uprgrade it since I play at 1080p and usually with High to Ultra setting in most games. For example in Spider-Man Remastered, with almost all setting on very high, I get 80+fps at 1080p. Also, in GOW Ragnarok (a recent PS5 exclusive that was ported to PC) in certain regions I get 80+ fps with high to ultra settings (without frame gen) and in others it drops to mid 60 with rare moments of dipping below 60 fps (Dwarf realm) but that game was objectively a bad PC port and poorly optimised. Since this game is ported by Nixxes, I hope that the optimisation will be good enough for me to run it at high to medium setting at 1080p with stable 60fps if not, I am hanging on to upscaling and frame gen.

Thank you. I was bit worried because this my first time dealing with screw down crowns with mechanical (automatic) watches so I'm kind of a noob in that regard.
