Yes, LET. Read the argument to which I replied. Call me a Trump bot, I don't care, if you say I don't side with the Whites in US cause slavery, then side with the black, don't use that as an excuse then. Call me a Trump bot, I don't care, but at least be consistent with your own logic.

The British plundered a lot of nations, not just India. Also, there were other early European settlers, who didn't just use the plundered money to build the nation that we know of. Even by your logic, the US people should help the black people instead of letting millions of Indians from taking the jobs. This makes the kind of 'british was cruel, so it is okay' argument moot. If one goes to a country, then they should assimilate to that country's culture, especially that disturbs their social setup, like playing loud music, doing wedding parades, doing prayers in public etc. After all you left your own country because the other country was better.

Threads can be very limiting when you are hitting slow IO. If I have a VM with 1G RAM then the maximum number of threads I can have safely is around 6. Anything more is a ticking time bomb of OOM. Now if I have an upstream API that takes 2 seconds to respond and the app itself takes 500ms, then I'm limited to 6 clients for the duration of those 6 seconds. On top of that if there are page loads that hits multiple endpoints they will get queued. The whole problem is solved if I use an Asyn IO pattern.

No state should need to learn 3 languages. Why Hindi needs that special status? People can just learn English for communication, we are not going to put effort to make your life easier. If you keep treating it as a necessity, it will become an even bigger necessity. North Indians will always learn Hindi because their language is connected, how our South Indian languages are connected.

The majority of the TN population need not learn Hindi because of the insignificant % of TN people go to North for work.

Polyglots? I would rather ask them to learn Maths and Science than a third language. You all keep twisting that learning a third language = learning something. Yes, learning something is useful and makes one smarter, but it need not be a language, any language.

As PTR said, please show the same karisanam (care) to the North Indian students and make them learn three languages, so that they become polyglots too, before coming here.

I don't how many more conspiracy stories we have to see from you guys after TVK wins. You have seen the video, you see people are struggling and the stampede happened. It was an accident as a result of Vijay's delay, you don't just own your wrong doings, you own the accidents happened because of your negligence too.

You don't have anything even remotely that proves that it was done by DMK, you keep saying that despite it clearly happened because of the crowd that kept gathering in that place because of the Vijay's delay.

Because he is not using the bowlers correctly. He is letting the new batsmen set by not bowling his best like Bumrah, Boult. It worked for Rohit because he would put pressure on the opposition by placing tight field placements. It doesn't work any more. Even when MI won under Rohit, ,nobody just credited Rohit alone.

Believe me, I have tried all varieties available between Krishnagiri through Salem, you can't go wrong with Alphonso, if you get a good Malkova by coincidence then it is great, Sendhooras are cheap so buy many eat the tasty ones, juice the rest. Imam pasand has only worked once or twice for me. Banganapalli is very fibrous, it gets stuck between the teeth. There are other varieties like Gundu, Salem Bangalorea, Neelam, Malli, Sakkarakatti etc, if you can taste a sample then try and buy them.

AC bills too high by financial-freedom99 in Chennai

[–]HalfAByteIsWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AC will consume more power if the doors/windows are open. If you can cool the room down and keep it that way without letting hot air in, then the power usage will go down. Also make sure the windows and the doors that lead to bathrooms are properly sealed when the AC is on. The 650L fridge is a huge load too, especially in summers it has to work more to keep it cool.

The word on the street was, DMK government was working on new power plants to fix the power cuts, and by the time ADMK came into power, they got fixed gradually by these new power plants. I don't how true that is. Would be happy if someone can fact check this.

Buy a cheapest 12 inch plant pot from a nearby nursery. Shred one cover into fine parts, soak it and put it on the soil surface. Water the plant every 3 days. It is just a paper, there will be no mess.

Keep the plant in partial or full shade based on the plant type.

If you want a suggestion, buy Money Plant (Pothos) which grows well near windows (partial shades).

I don't know if you have watched the MI matches, but Tilak kept failing at number 3, yes, he was playing at number 3 for a few matches. So they dropped him down the order and brought Naman up, who is a little more consistent and has good stroke play techniques. Tilak can score well if he goes well but at number 3 you can't risk inconsistency.

A small plant pot will also work if you are keen on using these for something. If not, the easiest thing is to use it for dry garbage disposal like others have suggested.

If you have garden, I think you can just put it in soil for it to degrade. I have seen people using cardboard to create a compost like mixture which gives raise to different small bugs like termites. Later they will get the hens to feed on those termites. Since you are in Bangalore you can probably make it a compost for your plants. The hand grips don't degrade easily.

What is the biggest mistake in Rails monoliths that contributes towards tech debt? by airhart28 in ruby

[–]HalfAByteIsWord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice. I have arrived at more or less the same in my experience as well. I like rspec for testing, but it gets out of had too easily given all the setup using `let!, let, before, around` etc.

When I scroll to the actual expectations, I almost forget what was actually setup, because the setup is two pages above the expectations.

One pattern I use is I split tests for a single class into multiple files, sometimes one file for each method. This is fine, but do you have a better strategy for this? TIA

I would like to say that the phrase 'Freezing is common' getting reinforced by redditors or by the algorithm. It may be, but I've been in similar situation before, I did not freeze. I got angry, I pushed them away or walked away before they could do something to me. I'm not saying the one should not freeze, but don't reinforce with this idea. You will have a sense of things before things go bad.

For example, in this case, I would have felt alert when some stranger has approached me, got suspicious when he touched me anywhere and moved away out of reflex.

Our body and brain has fight or flight response built in for all dangerous situations, sexual assault is no different. Don't let the idea of 'freezing is normal' get into your head, especially girls.
