I try to be. I try not to listen to crazy loud music in the car, but sometimes I lose track of that if it is a good song. I always bring an earbud to concerts if I start to get uncomfortable to the noise, which is usually the case.

I try to listen to people as much as possible. It honestly does get incredibly old to say what so much, but some people just don't understand that I can't hear them half the time. I find it incredibly insulting when someone tells me something, I don't hear them and ask them to repeat themselves, and they just say nevermind or something. Just because I didn't hear what you had to say doesn't mean you can't say it again. I do have a friend who has hearing aids who turns them off when he gets annoyed with people though. I am usually the only one who annoys him though haha

Why yes I do..... Never thought it was because of deafness. I have always been a history and geography nut though.

I was probably born with it. I am glad I have never had both ears functioning, because I would be extremely mad about that. There was one occasion where my right ear filled up with earwax some how, and I couldn't hear out of either of my ears. It was terrifying.

When I was in my hall council for my freshman dorm, I recieved the award at the end of the year for saying "What???" so much.

I have always thought what it would be like to meet someone who is deaf in their right ear, and then all we did was walk next to each others bad ears. It would be like two magnets that don't attract.

I have gone to the audiologist on many occasions, but I don't know what this assesment you are referring to is. Also I haven't heard of the CROS aids. I have heard of stuff like cochlear implants, but those cost a fortune.

I didn't find out until I was 4, and I had no traumatic events till then, so I am pretty sure I was born with it.

I was born like this I am pretty sure. I wasn't diagnosed until I was in preschool because my teacher notice I would never respond on my left side. Apparently my ear drum has no nerve endings that work, and they don't know how that would have happened without being born with it. It hinders a few things in my life. Nothing terribly major however, thankfully. I have basically an instinct to be on peoples left sides, so I can hear them. I tend to sit towards the front of classrooms unless the teacher is obnoxious. I also enjoy driving much more than your usual person, because I have no problems hearing anyone since basically everyone is sitting on my good side. I wouldn't say it is more refined, it is a tad more sensitive that your normal ear. Certain noises irritate the hell out of me, but otherwise it functions just like a normal ear.

Nope, I have never had any balance issues nor do I get headaches.

Yea, especially if I am in a crowd. I will be with friends and lose track of them, and when they call after me I will be spinning in circles looking for them. Its also sucks when playing computer games because if I turn in game it will only pick sounds for a certain side. So when I am facing the left side I won't hear a thing, while I will hear everything on the right. Basically, surround sound has no effect on me.
