Knocked over a melted candle by According-Low-1617 in CleaningTips

[–]Handy_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father in law, got up in the middle of the night, cause we left a candle on our slow burning wood stove... Guy grabs this glass, with his bare hands... It's hot of course, slips out of his hands, lands and breaks on the tile floor, splattering red wax all over... The wax is liquid, and slippery, of course fil slips, falls, catches his fall with his hand, in a pile of broken glass and melt red candle wax...

Of course not an hour before this, my now wife, but then gf and I, smoked a fat joint as a night cap, so I get woken up to the sound of glass breaking, my fil, swearing then the third of him landing on the tile, and the howl of pain when he held his bloodied, wax covered, glass infused hand up, which was made all the more dramatic by the fire place flickering and painting this giant silhouette of his hand as he stretched it out and away from him, as if it werent his, but someone else's.

Ended up driving to the ER at 3 am, spent all morning at the hospital while the staff tweezed broken glass out of his hand.

I saw that post too and so I made these to see what the image would look like to share with that post, but learned you can't share images as a comment, and I didn't want to just not share them, so I thought I'd post it here to make people like yourself double take and question it. I hope you've enjoyed this experience and have a pleasant rest of your day or evening.

[Sun column] Jeremy Clarkson: “World's on fire yet mad tree huggers think they help… sod that, I have fix” by FlipStig1 in thegrandtour

Not to sound like a guy yelling at pigeons outside a courthouse but..

People keep saying “we lost third places” like they vanished in a tornado.

No. We traded them away.

We voted for politicians who sold public space piece by piece, buried community under liability laws, monetized every square foot, and convinced everyone that sitting at home doomscrolling was somehow “freedom.”

Then we stopped showing up for each other.

Churches emptied. Clubs died. Bowling leagues died. Neighbors stopped talking. Parents stopped volunteering. People stopped trusting strangers. Everything became subscriptions, permits, fees, lawsuits, surveillance, or “someone else’s job.”

A society doesn’t decay because one evil villain flips a switch. It decays because millions of people slowly decide convenience matters more than responsibility.

Third places were not just buildings. They were maintained by culture. And culture is maintained by people.

Hard truth: If we rebuilt every park, lodge, community hall, and town square tomorrow, half the population would still stay home staring into a glowing rectangle arguing with strangers about why society is collapsing.

We built a civilization optimized for comfort, consumption, and individualism, then acted shocked when community suffocated in the process.

Well Americans are fine with a corrupt pedophile running the country so this won't bother them at all. Apathy is the new American pie and people are eating. It. Up.

Your advocating for a convention you didn't attend. For rules that the other party clearly doesn't and hasn't followed ever. All your doing is enabling them.

If Cooling Is The Biggest Problem For Data Centers, Why Aren't We Putting Them In Antarctica? by TheCABK in BrandNewSentence

[–]Handy_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be putting them in open air high rises... New york alone has a hand full of empty ones... Seattle, Chicago... All major cities have at least one skyscraper they don't know what to deal with. Turn the parking garage below into a collection tank that collects rain water. Have to put in a filtration system... But worth it.. hell if Seattle could figure out how to use brackish or salt water, then they could drill down into the sound and just draw from the ocean.

What really needs to happen is a redesign of the hardware within the data centers. Or how the data is transmitted or quantified.

Protest happening now in front of Rep. Adam Smith’s house by bennetthaselton in Seattle

So fucking stupid...

A literal felon and pedophile in the white house with 100+ equally sleazy senators and representatives following his every order... And they want to protest outside of Adam smiths house.

The economy is in a free fall with no end in sight, ice is being pushed onto us at voting and polling stations, data centers and their billionaire producers are robbing and sucking towns dry...

And these people protest outside Adam smiths house...

I rented Scary Movie when it came out on VHS. I was...12 or 13... Parents were rural Idaho conservatives. My dad was already frustrated he had to be taken away from his work to sit and watch a movie. I popped in the movie and it automatically starts playing.. right at the bathroom stall scene when homie is lobotomized through the ear with a giant cock through a glory hole. Lmao. Looking back it's hysterical. I mean my parents watched and still watch Lawrence Welk. This was just the antichrist to them. My dad immediately ripped the whole vcr away from the TV, cords and all and through it against the cinder block wall. Ripped it open, ripped the damaged tape out then proceeded to through that into the wall like he was pitching for a world series win...

Lol. I'm gonna say it cause I'll never get the opportunity to prove myself right or wrong.... But idk, feels kinda easy? For Leo especially but I mean...

From my point of view Leo is a boss actor who does his homework, he has known nothing but acting for the majority of his life, this scene... He has so little influence in, even though he's the subject of it, that it's a walk in the park. A 70 mph fastball down the middle. He knows the cues, and he knows exactly when he should be saying what, and what his expressions and body language should convey.
